Kevin Owens Must Be the Answer to Triple H's Call for New Top Heel
It may not seem like it right now to WWE fans, but the opening segment of this past Monday's Raw from England could be a telling one in the weeks to come.
Triple H was at his explosive best on the microphone, indicating to Roman Reigns that he was almost the one chosen from The Shield to lead WWE and The Authority forward as the face of the company.
Reigns was offered the chance to join up with The Authority and effectively turn heel, but he turned it down to continue to stand alone.

However, that call is going to be answered by someone in the coming weeks, whether it be before, during or after Survivor Series.
And out of all the candidates available for The Authority to go for, there's only one man for the job, and that's Kevin Owens.
The man who currently holds a title of his own is still in the running to become WWE World Heavyweight champion at Survivor Series, and with so much star talent absent from the roster at the moment, there is an opening for someone to step forward as a main event heel of the future, as well as the present.
If WWE has a plan up its sleeve for Dean Ambrose to execute a shock heel turn and cost Roman Reigns the title at Survivor Series, those plans need to be shelved right now in favour of Owens being the new face of The Authority.
Brave decisions are part and parcel of what make successful storylines in WWE. Having Seth Rollins cash in his Money in the Bank briefcase in the main event of WrestleMania was brave, and it certainly worked.
So instead of going with the obvious choice of Roman Reigns at Survivor Series, an unexpected choice is going to be much better. There also needs to be someone to fill the gap in The Authority's stable, a wrestler who can fight as the top heel in the company. Owens has the potential to be that guy.
You only have to look at whenever he's been given a bit of serious exposure. NXT was at the peak of its powers when Owens was wrestling guys like Sami Zayn, for example. His heel turn on Zayn was one of the big shocks of the last 12 months at Full Sail University, and it set up an incredible feud with Owens.
K.O. emerged as a no-nonsense brawler who fans immediately got hooked on. A promotion to the main roster was inevitable, and when he debuted earlier this year, he didn't let anyone down.
Owens was entrusted with feuding with the company's top guy on debut, John Cena. Did he let anyone down? Not a chance. In fact, it has proven to be one of Cena's better feuds in recent years.
He savagely attacked Machine Gun Kelly in another display of ruthless aggression, showing that he had no intention of letting anyone or anything get in his way.
Things have stalled lately for Owens, but if he's given that push into the vacant slot at Survivor Series, it could be the start of something very special.
Here's the scenario. Owens has just emerged through a Match of the Year candidate with Dean Ambrose in the semi-finals of the tournament to meet Reigns in the final. It's the main event everyone expects: a bruising battle with both guys giving it everything they have.
But Owens' fight with Ambrose earlier in the evening looks to be catching up with him, and Reigns is starting to get the upper hand. Out comes The Authority, deciding which way to point their finger and who to pick as the new face of the company.
As Reigns stares down Triple H, the distraction is enough for Owens to lay Reigns out, pin him and become the new WWE World Heavyweight champion.
Suddenly, the whole landscape of WWE changes forever. And even better, with Owens the face of The Authority, Rollins can return as a babyface and go after the title.
That's a feud that would excite WWE fans.
