Tre Bryant to Nebraska: Huskers Land 3-Star RB Prospect
The Nebraska Cornhuskers shocked the nation with their 39-38 upset win over the Michigan State Spartans on Saturday, and they kept the momentum rolling on the recruiting trail Sunday.
Running back prospect Tre Bryant announced his decision to join Nebraska’s 2016 class on his Twitter page:
Bryant is a 3-star prospect, per 247Sports' composite rankings, and the No. 41 running back in the 2016 class. The 5’10”, 195-pound back is also the No. 5 player in the state of Missouri and chose the Cornhuskers over the Kansas State Wildcats, the Northwestern Wildcats, the Minnesota Golden Gophers, the Indiana Hoosiers, the Syracuse Orange and the Vanderbilt Commodores.
Bryant had committed to Kansas State earlier in the year, but he announced his decision to decommit Wednesday:
The running back took an official visit to Nebraska for Saturday’s win over Michigan State. The atmosphere during the victory over a Top 10 team must have impressed him, as he wasted little time in pledging to the Cornhuskers.
According to 247Sports, Bryant’s 40-yard dash is a solid but unspectacular 4.52 seconds. He is a bruising running back who breaks plenty of tackles and picks up difficult yardage through the middle instead of blazing past defenders on the outside.
Bryant is not the only running back in Nebraska’s 2016 class. Aphonso Thomas is another 3-star prospect who has committed to Nebraska, although he may be considering an offer from SMU. The Crystal Ball predictions on his 247Sports profile both predict he will end up with the Mustangs despite his verbal pledge to the Cornhuskers.
Bryant adds plenty of talent to the future Nebraska backfield, but he also serves as insurance in case the Cornhuskers miss out on Thomas.
