Greyson Lambert Named Georgia Starting QB over Faton Bauta vs. Kentucky
It looks like the Faton Bauta experiment at Georgia is over, at least for Week 10. According to ESPN College Football, quarterback Greyson Lambert will start for the Bulldogs against Kentucky on Saturday.
Lambert started the first seven games of the season, leading Georgia to a 5-2 record. His inconsistencies over the past few weeks, however, which saw the team lose two consecutive games to Alabama and Tennessee, left the door open for Bauta.
But in Bauta's lone start against Florida, he struggled mightily, going 15-of-33 for 154 yards and four interceptions as Georgia lost 27-3 to drop to 5-3 on the season.
Despite Bauta's horrific outing, it looks like the decision to start Lambert came down to the wire, according to UGASports.com's Radi Nabulsi:
Lambert, who is a junior, hasn't necessarily put up bad numbers this season. He has completed 64.1 percent of his passes to go with nine touchdowns and just two interceptions.
While Georgia still needs one more win to become bowl eligible, any sort of SEC aspirations have been lost with this recent stretch of play.
But if the Bulldogs want one more season of productive play out of Lambert next year, it's better to keep him in and try to finish the season strong.
