Dean Ambrose and the Stars Who Must Fill the Void Left by Seth Rollins Injury
Seth Rollins' injury has cut short a promising debut title reign far too soon—but it offers up a huge opportunity for the rest of the roster.
With the champion out, there's plenty of capacity for every wrestler under contract by WWE to raise their profile significantly. One man will take the most coveted spot in the company, but others will make their ascensions elsewhere on the card.
Rollins is a top-tier talent between the ropes, a potent villain for fans to root against and, of course, the reigning WWE World Heavyweight champion. In his absence, those roles will all need to be fulfilled by other talent.
This question is: Who on the current WWE roster provides the best upside for the company as it reshuffles the deck less than six months away from WrestleMania?
Roman Reigns
1 of 6
Roman Reigns has long looked like a world champion in the making, but the injury to Seth Rollins gives him his best shot at wearing the gold to date.
The problem with the Juggernaut is that he's almost too much of a sure thing. The reason fans responded with such venom when Reigns won the Royal Rumble earlier this year is that it seemed to render WrestleMania season as a foregone conclusion.
Of course, we now know how things would play out, with the Money in the Bank briefcase being cashed in on the grandest stage possible.
However, a similar journey towards the title for Reigns would likely be met with as much resistance. We've been told plenty of times that he's good enough for the main event—once it's time for him to claim the championship, the chase is likely to be much less interesting than the reign.
With the belt vacated, the timing is perfect to give the Big Dog a lengthy run as champion, building up some steam ahead of WrestleMania.
Reigns is probably the safest choice to take the belt in Rollins' absence, but that doesn't mean that it's a bad direction. Similar situations have produced some of the biggest stars of all time, as a do-or-die scenario seems to be the catalyzing factor that many rising stars need to flourish.
Dean Ambrose

While Roman Reigns has been the man in WWE's eyes for some time, it's no secret that crowds love Dean Ambrose.
He's never really been able to hit a consistent period of momentum in terms of wins, but that's had very little effect on his popularity. Sooner or later, it's going to be impossible for the company to keep Ambrose out of the main event.
An unpredictable situation such as this seems like the perfect chance for the Lunatic Fringe to rise to the top of the tower. Ambrose is surely a lock for the tournament scheduled for Survivor Series, and there's every chance that he could go all the way.
Ambrose as champion sets up two feuds immediately: one against Roman Reigns in the short term and unfinished business with Seth Rollins in the long term. Both of those would surely produce main-event-caliber matches.
Moreover, it gives Ambrose the opportunity to take the ball and run with it—something that's been afforded to both of his Shield compatriots.
Is WWE ready for a Lunatic to hold its world title? The stars might just be aligning.
The New Day

The New Day has been the best thing about the tag team division in recent months—but the group has untapped potential in singles competition.
Back when Kofi Kingston was entered into the Money in the Bank ladder match, fans were speculating about the possibility of all three men holding the briefcase at one time. Imagine if the trio were to take part in the title tournament at Survivor Series.
In fact, only one member has to enter—Xavier Woods might be an interesting choice—and the other two members of the stable could make their presence felt from ringside.
It's unlikely that The New Day will take the title home, regardless of how entertaining the world championship being defended under the Freebird Rule would be. However, the unit would offer a different element to the bracket.
Tournaments are great, but they tend to fall flat if the only story being told is the one following the guy who wins. The New Day would add an extra dimension to the night, and the team would undoubtedly make full use of the spotlight that it would throw on them.
Neville

One thing that Seth Rollins could be relied upon through his world championship reign was great matches.
Every time The Architect stepped into the ring, fans could be assured that they were in for something special. Unfortunately, most top contenders for the title don't have anywhere near the technical ability.
That leaves a spot for an in-ring standout to be the go-to athlete for an exciting match, whether it's on television or pay-per-view. There are few better candidates for this spot on the main roster than The Man That Gravity Forgot.
Neville is unlikely to claim the world title at Survivor Series, but he could fill another void left by Rollins' injury. If he's given time to demonstrate his abilities on a regular basis, there's little doubt that his star will rise in the process.
Ring work has become much more of a focus for WWE over the past few years, and Neville is very adept at merging the company's traditional style with some of the zest of the independent scene.
Neville hasn't had a great deal to do since making a memorable main-roster debut earlier in the year—but that could all change in the coming weeks.
Triple H
5 of 6
Triple H is settling into his mantle as an authority figure quite well—but let's not forget that he could easily transition back into a more active role.
The title tournament scheduled for Survivor Series seems likely to see some sort of representative for The Authority, and what better man for the job than Triple H. Whether he wins outright or loses to set up a WrestleMania match, there are plenty of outcomes that could make full use of The Game.
Triple H brings star power, of course, but he's also demonstrated that he's got plenty left in the tank in terms of his ring work. His match with Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania 30 sits among the best of his career, so plenty of fans are naturally curious to see him make a return to competition.
Of course, it's a long shot—but even if The Game doesn't return to the active roster, he's still set to be a crucial part of plugging the void left by Rollins.
The Authority has seen its numbers plummet over the course of 2015, and the villainous quotient of the roster as a whole is pretty thin. Whether he's in the ring or just fulfilling his corporate duties, Triple H is likely to be among the primary antagonists of whatever major storylines play out over the next few months.
Bray Wyatt
6 of 6
Despite his loss at Hell in a Cell, Bray Wyatt is riding high on a wave of momentum.
He's seen off The Brothers of Destruction, and he's backed by his family in greater numbers than ever before. With Seth Rollins out of commission, it's time for The New Face of Fear to make good on his limitless potential.
If Wyatt is to enter the tournament at Survivor Series, the backing of Luke Harper, Erick Rowan and Braun Strowman will surely give him a considerable advantage. However, even if he's to continue his issue with Undertaker at the event, he'll benefit from The Architect's absence.
WWE programming is in desperate need for a compelling villain at the top of the card—and Wyatt is the ideal man for the job.
