WWE Announces WrestleMania 31's Economic Impact on Santa Clara, San Jose Region
WrestleMania 31 generated no shortage of buzz in California's Silicon Valley this past March, and according to the results of a new study, the Showcase of the Immortals was a major financial coup for the region as well.
Per a WWE press release, Enigma Research Corporation found that WrestleMania 31 generated $139 million in economic impact for the Santa Clara and San Jose areas, which represents the second-largest mark in the history of WrestleMania.
Santa Clara Mayor Jamie Matthews was among those to praise WWE for the profound effect it had on the area, according to the release: "On behalf of the beautiful city of Santa Clara, I sincerely thank all WWE fans that visited Levi's Stadium for WrestleMania 31. The event exceeded our expectations, and we would absolutely welcome the opportunity to once again host WWE's marquee event."

WrestleMania has made a habit of being a lucrative enterprise for the host city as it has created over $100 million in revenue in each of the past four years, per WWE's corporate website:
| 28 | 2012 | Miami, Florida | $102.7 million |
| 29 | 2013 | New York/New Jersey | $101.2 million |
| 30 | 2014 | New Orleans, Louisiana | $142.2 million |
| 31 | 2015 | Santa Clara/San Jose, California | $139 million |
According to the press release, WWE Executive Vice President, Special Events John P. Saboor intends to maintain that positive momentum in 2016 when Arlington, Texas, and the surrounding Dallas area hosts WrestleMania 32:
"We are proud that WrestleMania continues to deliver an incredible economic benefit for its host region. Our WrestleMania Week success in the Bay Area would not have been possible without the support of Mayor Matthews, (San Jose) Mayor (Sam) Liccardo, the San Francisco 49ers and countless other public and private sector partners that embraced WWE's worldwide fan base. We are excited with the planning that is already underway with our new partners in the Dallas/Arlington area for WrestleMania 32.
"
Since AT&T Stadium is capable of holding well over 100,000 spectators, WrestleMania 32 has an excellent chance to set attendance records.
Add in the fact the state of Texas has an extremely rich sports entertainment history stemming from Fritz Von Erich's World Class Championship Wrestling, and it is easy to envision WrestleMania 32 being the biggest and most profitable wrestling event of all time.
