Analysis
One look at the SmackDown results for this Thursday's show suggests a lack of star power. After all, missing in action are both Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins as well as the injured Randy Orton and John Cena, who is on hiatus.
Still, the broadcast is rife with potential for outstanding in-ring competition, particularly in the night's opening and closing bouts.
Del Rio is one of the best workers in the world, as seen in his Lucha Underground and Indie performances, while Neville has had his talents wasted since moving up to the main roster. By sheer skill alone, their match should be something both special and wildly entertaining to bear witness to.
Ambrose and Owens are veterans of the independent scene who have earned their spots in WWE and are among the most respected and popular stars in the industry. After Ambrose's win over KO on Raw, the IC champion has an attempt to right a wrong.
The finish, largely unsatisfactory upon first look, was a fine way to keep both Superstars over without forcing either to absorb a loss he could not endure.
The Wyatt Family elimination tag bout is one-sided, and the use of The Lucha Dragons is questionable at best, especially given how they scored such a big win over King Barrett and Sheamus on Raw.
Overall, the broadcast certainly looks like a fun one, but as is the case with every episode of the B-level show, fans will miss nothing by opting not to tune in.
That is something WWE will be forced to address when the show moves to USA Network in January.
