La Liga Results 2015 Week 9: Final Scores and Updated Table After Saturday
Real Madrid seized control of first place in La Liga after winning their top-of-the-table clash with Celta Vigo, 3-1. Despite a host of injuries, Los Blancos won against 10 men in Vigo thanks to goals from Cristiano Ronaldo and full-backs Danilo and Marcelo. Madrid also received an exceptional performance from goalkeeper Keylor Navas.
Elsewhere, Sevilla dismantled Getafe. Underrated French striker Kevin Gameiro helped himself to a hat-trick in a game where the visitors were also reduced to 10 men in the second half.

Recap
Madrid won at a tough venue thanks to a supremely clinical counter-attacking performance. Ronaldo opened the scoring in the eighth minute, and Danilo soon doubled the lead.
Danilo's goal was created by a classy pass from 22-year-old wide forward Jese. He was helping fill in for injured pair Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale.
The youngster, who has been linked with a move away from La Liga, per Aaron Flanagan of the Mirror, believes the assist is proof of his ability to instead make the grade in Spain's top flight, according to AS:
But it was Navas who really stood out. His efforts between the posts frustrated a gifted Celta attack. He consistently denied Iago Aspas and Nolito.
BBC Sport's Andy West lauded Navas' current form, particularly his first-half contribution:
Even though Nolito finally got the better of him with five minutes remaining, Navas was the star of the show. Marcelo made sure Nolito's goal didn't threaten the result, thanks to a smart finish deep into injury time.
Vigo's fightback bid had already been undermined by centre-back Gustavo Cabral being sent off for two bookable offences.
After the game, Madrid manager Rafa Benitez bemoaned the scheduling that put his team in action on a Saturday afternoon after playing in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday.
Per Sky Sports, Benitez used his post-match press conference to blast the fixture's format:
"It was surprising that we had to play on Saturday after playing such a difficult game on Wednesday.
The same thing happened to Sevilla (who played Getafe on Saturday after travelling to Manchester City on Wednesday) and I hope that in the next few weeks, other teams have to do the same.
"
Despite Benitez's gripes, though, Los Merengues are making a confident push for this season's title.
Another team hitting form is two-time UEFA Europa League winner Sevilla. They flattened Getafe 5-0 thanks to a trio of penalties. Earning and converting three spot-kicks meant Sevilla joined history, according to MisterChip (English):
Right-back Carlos Vigaray gave away two of those penalties. He was sent off after receiving his second yellow card.
Sevilla playmaker Ever Banega, Gameiro and winger Yevhen Konoplyanka made the penalties count. Gameiro's conversion wrapped up his hat-trick.
The Frenchman tormented Getafe all game. His movement was quick and clever, and he remained a nuisance across the back line.

Gameiro now has five goals in La Liga, according to Yahoo Sports. His talent and form are why the club could justify selling the brilliant Carlos Bacca this summer.
At the foot of the table, Granada were unable to escape the bottom three after blowing an early lead at home to Real Betis. The game ended 1-1 when a Ruben Castro penalty cancelled out full-back Dimitri Foulquier's opener for the home side.
While Granada remain mired in a relegation scrap, Betis are making progress. Pepe Mel's team is now on its best run in nearly eight years, as noted by OptaJose:
Finally, an Adnane Tighadouini goal and one from Juan Carlos gave Malaga all three points against Deportivo La Coruna. Tighadouini lashed a free-kick low into the bottom corner in the second half. Carlos turned in a left-footed effort in the dying minutes to make the result safe.
Benitez will know that a Barcelona win at home to Eibar will put their greatest rival level on points at the top. That would make this season's title race very interesting one week before El Clasico.
Madrid are currently playing within themselves, but it's still been good enough to secure top spot. Benitez has a knack for organising his teams to get results in difficult places, the way he did against Celta.
Yet with Bale and Benzema sidelined, they'll find Barca a tougher nut to crack.
