Jurgen Klopp Has No Definite Answer to Liverpool Rumours as Board Sets Meeting
Jurgen Klopp does not have a definitive answer as to whether he will take the job as Liverpool manager following Brendan Rodgers' recent sacking.
The former Borussia Dortmund manager has emerged as Liverpool's prime target to replace the Northern Irishman, but Klopp has yet to commit himself to the club, per German outlet Bild (h/t Ian Ladyman for the Daily Mail): "There's nothing to say. Neither a definite yes nor a definite no. I'm going home now."
Per Ladyman, Klopp was set for a "transatlantic board meeting via videophone" with Liverpool owners Fenway Sports Group in which the Reds hierarchy were hoping to appoint him to the managerial role at Anfield on a three-year deal.

German football expert Raphael Honigstein believes Klopp could work within the constructs of Liverpool's transfer committee—having worked under a similar system at Dortmund—as long as no signings were made against his wishes, per talkSPORT's Hawksbee and Jacobs show.
Bleacher Report's Sam Tighe said Klopp could be a success at Anfield but fears Liverpool may have to settle for treading water for the rest of the 2015-16 season before the 48-year-old can shape his own team:
Per BBC Sport's Ben Smith, Carlo Ancelotti is another potential option to take over the reins on Merseyside, but Klopp is the preferred choice of FSG.
Both managers have a more auspicious resume than Rodgers, Klopp having won two Bundesliga titles and Ancelotti numerous domestic trophies along with three Champions League crowns.
While arriving midseason would not be ideal for either manager, the thought of reviving such a big club as Liverpool would surely attract both.
Rodgers almost led the Reds to the league title in 2013-14, but his position became untenable following a poor start to the new campaign, which now sees Liverpool lying 10th in the Premier League after eight matches.
At Dortmund, Klopp connected with the fans and the ideology of the club in a way that would be most welcome at Liverpool—a club rightly proud of its history and traditions.
While Klopp has yet to confirm his decision on whether he will join Liverpool, the parties involved seem to be edging towards an agreement.
Thus the first game back after the international break—against Tottenham Hotspur—could signal the start of a new era for Liverpool.
