Cameron To Continue Career Despite Considering Retirement
Monday, Nov. 7
Dolphins head coach Adam Gase told reporters Cameron did consider retirement but said he wants to continue playing.
Jason Lieser of the Palm Beach Post shared more comments from Gase on Cameron's health:
"We felt like it still was going to be some more time. We want to make sure he’s comfortable when he gets to a point where they say he’s cleared that there’s no hesitation for him. You have the protocol, but then the guy still has to feel he’s good to go. Obviously when you have a couple, you want to make sure everything’s right. We sent him back to Pittsburgh and made sure he’s seeing all the right doctors.
As far as talking to him, he’s been very positive with me. He wants to keep playing. But right now, we weren’t sure how long he was going to be out, so that’s why we went the IR route, which is good for him because he can really do his homework and evaluate everything. But the sense I’ve gotten from him as far as down the road is that he wants to keep playing.
"
On Saturday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reported Cameron was weighing retirement following the season-ending injury.

Cameron Once Again Dealing with Injury
Through three games this season, Cameron racked up eight receptions for 60 yards and a touchdown.
Injuries hampered him over his first four years in the league. His first season with the Dolphins in 2015 was the first time in his career that he played a full 16 games. Adam H. Beasley of the Miami Herald noted Sept. 26 that the most recent concussion is Cameron's fourth concussion in four years.
He struggled to make an impact last year, hauling in 35 catches for 386 yards and three touchdowns. In a pass-heavy Dolphins offense under quarterback Ryan Tannehill, those numbers aren't reflective of a good receiving tight end like Cameron.
With above-average athleticism for the position, he's shown the ability to make some tough catches in tight coverage, as the NFL showed on Twitter:
With backup Dion Sims also out, it will put more pressure on and bring more attention to Jarvis Landry, Kenny Stills and DeVante Parker in the passing game.
