Keylor Navas Was in Tears After Manchester United Move He Didn't Want Broke Down
Real Madrid goalkeeper Keylor Navas has revealed that he was in tears when the summer transfer window closed and his switch to Manchester United fell through.
The Costa Rican stopper was set to move to Old Trafford as part of the deal that saw David De Gea join the Spanish giants, but negotiations between the two clubs broke down on deadline day, and he remained at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Having waited for a plane he would never board and taken part in a medical at the club's training ground, Navas admits he started to cry at the end of the day when the contract came through too late and he didn't have to leave.

He told Cadena Cope radio (via Goal.com):
"[Deadline day] was one of the worst days of my football career. I cried when the transfer window was closed, near my wife. I'm human and everything exploded. I was waiting in the airport even without suitcases. I was not on the plane, but I was near.
It was a complicated situation. I wanted to play, and to watch how others [De Gea] play above me is difficult to interpret. At 19:00 CET my agent said to me "you have to take a plane" and I was waiting in a room.
The contract arrived too late. My agent reviewed it and was correct. I didn't want to go. I did the medicals in Valdebebas after that and I did not return to the airport.
There was no time. It was complicated. I arrived at home and I started to cry.
"
Having remained with Los Blancos, Navas has gone on to set a club record for most clean sheets at the start of a season, with five.
