Johnny Manziel to Start vs. Titans: Twitter Reacts as Star QB Named Starter
With Johnny Manziel set to make his first start of the 2015 season for the Cleveland Browns on Sunday against the Tennessee Titans, the reaction has been predictably mixed regarding Johnny Football's prospects.
The Browns announced the move Friday since veteran Josh McCown has yet to be cleared after suffering a concussion in Week 1. Manziel had some ups and downs in relief against the New York Jets, and Cleveland was ultimately throttled 31-10 in that game.
Despite the question marks surrounding the former Heisman Trophy winner's ability to succeed in the NFL, TexAgs.com is excited about the former Texas A&M superstar's chance to prove his skill set can translate to the next level:

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
There is always a certain level of intrigue that surrounds Johnny Football, but it will be kicked up a few notches Sunday since he is set to face a fellow Heisman winner in Titans rookie quarterback Marcus Mariota.
While Manziel has yet to find his footing since being selected in the first round last year, Mariota made an instant impact as he threw for four touchdowns in his first regular-season start last week.
As pointed out by Ross Tucker of NBCSN, the former Oregon signal-caller has already overshadowed Manziel in a big way:
Adam Amin of ESPN Radio provided the stats to prove it:
Mariota already faced one Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback last week in the form of Tampa Bay Buccaneers rookie Jameis Winston, and it was no contest as Tennessee rolled to a 42-14 win.
Based on the way things have gone for Mariota thus far, John Canzano of the Oregonian is wondering if the Indianapolis Colts might be on the lookout for a Heisman quarterback of their own prior to their Week 3 clash with the Titans:
To say Manziel's two starts last season as a rookie didn't go well would be a gross understatement, as evidenced by this stat courtesy of NFL Network's Will Selva:
With that said, Johnny Football undoubtedly brings a certain dynamic and flair to the table that McCown simply doesn't. It may not lead to a win Sunday in Cleveland, but he could wreak some havoc on the Titans defense with his legs and improvisational ability.
Above all else, Manziel has a way of making the Browns interesting and relevant, per Jeopardy! Sports on Twitter:
Few would have given a Titans versus Browns game a second look last season, but now that Manziel and Mariota are involved, it figures to be must-see TV for many football fans.
As pointed out by Les Bowen of the Philadelphia Daily News, the hype surrounding Johnny Football despite his lack of success in the NFL is reminiscent of another former Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback:
Perhaps Manziel's media coverage hasn't quite reached Tim Tebow levels, but he certainly isn't too far off.
The polarizing passer will eventually have to make some plays and win big games in order to ensure people continue to care, and doing so against Mariota and the Titans would be a great start.
