Chris Ivory Injury: Updates on Jets Star's Groin, Quad and Return
New York Jets running back Chris Ivory suffered injuries to his quadriceps and groin in the team's Week 2 win over the Indianapolis Colts, but he is active for Week 3 against the Philadelphia Eagles.
ESPN's Adam Schefter and NFL Network's Ian Rapoport both reported the Jets and Ivory are optimistic he'll play, but the running back will test himself during a pregame workout before the team makes a final decision.
Ivory was held out of practice Thursday, with head coach Todd Bowles describing the injury as "pretty sore," per Dennis Waszak Jr. of the Associated Press.

According to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News on Sept. 22, Bowles wasn't certain Ivory would be able to finish the Jets' Week 2 matchup in Indianapolis, given the health issues afflicting the veteran running back.
Injuries hounded Ivory throughout his three seasons with the New Orleans Saints, but he's developed into more of a featured weapon since joining the Jets in 2013.
After rushing for more than 800 yards during each of his first two seasons with Gang Green, Ivory impressed Bowles upon arrival.
"He's as advertised," Bowles said of Ivory prior to the regular season, according to ESPN.com's Kieran Darcy. "We knew he was tough and he could pound it up in there. But he cuts well, he's got good vision [too]."
But beyond Ivory's ability to bludgeon defenses between the tackles, he's displayed some sweet acceleration upon hitting the second level of the defense.
"The only thing that surprised me about Ivory was how quick his feet were,” Bowles said on Sept. 16, per Mehta. "He's got excellent feet. ... You don't have to be a blazer as a runner, but if you got good feet and good vision, then you can be a good back."
Two games into the 2015 season, Ivory has rushed for 148 yards and two touchdowns as the Jets' early-down bell cow.
Should the injury force him to miss game action, third-down specialist Bilal Powell and backup Zac Stacy figure to be in line for some sort of timeshare configuration in New York's backfield.
