Real Madrid Transfer News: David De Gea Fiasco, United Discussed by La Liga Boss
La Liga president Javier Tebas has backed Real Madrid in their argument with Manchester United over the failed transfer of Red Devils goalkeeper David De Gea.
The Spain international was tipped to join Los Blancos throughout the summer transfer window, and a deadline day deal that would see Real goalkeeper Keylor Navas go the other way looked to be on the cards.
However, the deal collapsed as it was not completed before the deadline, with both Real and United blaming each other for the failure.

Tebas, though, believes Real's side of the story and confirmed the Liga giants did not attempt to appeal after they failed to make the deal stick, speaking to Sky Sports News HQ:
"All I know is when I spoke to Madrid, things happened a bit late but I believe in Real Madrid's version a little more than Manchester United's version.
No, [Real did not attempt to appeal]. They just rang to see what had actually happened and if there was any way within the rules that it could be put right. Having been involved in those situations myself in the past, when things get tight to the deadline, I believe Madrid did everything they could and behaved in totally the proper way to make sure David De Gea would have been on his way to play for that club.
"
It seems inevitable that De Gea will eventually make the switch to the Bernabeu, as he has less than one year left on his current contract at Old Trafford.
However, Real's chances of taking him on a free transfer next summer could be in jeopardy. The 24-year-old is apparently on the verge of signing a new deal with the Manchester outfit as he eyes a starting place at next year's European Championship in France, per Fichajes.net (h/t Louis Sealey in Metro).
De Gea needs first-team football to make a claim to start for Spain at Euro 2016. Therefore, he may be persuaded to extend his deal with United.
Red Devils boss Louis van Gaal sidelined his No. 1 for the opening games of the season amid the transfer speculation, but he could return to the starting lineup against Liverpool on Saturday, per the Telegraph's Mark Ogden:
Indeed, as noted by Bleacher Report's Sam Tighe, United need to get De Gea back in the side as soon as possible because stand-in Sergio Romero is a far inferior goalkeeper:
Madrid need to move on from the blame game over De Gea and focus on their league campaign, which continues with a trip to Espanyol on Saturday.
New manager Rafael Benitez has the very capable Navas to call upon, and he can rest assured De Gea will arrive next summer regardless of whether Real end up having to pay a fee for him.
