Manchester United Transfer News: Latest Hugo Lloris and Marco Reus Rumours
Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has hinted he was open to a move to Manchester United over the summer.
According to Metro's Louis Sealey, the Frenchman was recently asked about the rumours linking him to Old Trafford. He said: "A lot of things were said and written. There could have been a development there but the desired movement didn’t happen."
As David De Gea remained a United player when the window shut, a move for the 28-year-old failed to materialise. Lloris insisted he is still committed to Spurs, adding: "I have a lot of affection for Tottenham. I feel respected, I have a very good relationship with the staff and I’m ready to play the best season possible."

When it appeared De Gea would be joining Real Madrid, football writer Liam Canning argued Lloris should be a priority target for the Red Devils:
Indeed, as WhoScored.com noted, the stopper is a standout 'keeper in the Premier League and has improved overall with each season he's been at White Hart Lane:
Though he may not be quite as good as De Gea, Lloris would certainly be a strong replacement for the Spaniard when he most likely departs for the Bernabeu on a free transfer next summer.
Spurs chairman Daniel Levy will probably drive a hard bargain for his unflappable No. 1, but of the realistic long-term replacements United could pursue, Lloris is arguably the best, so he could well be worth the outlay.
United Maintain Interest in Marco Reus
According to Samuel Luckhurst of the Manchester Evening News, the Red Devils explored the possibility of signing Borussia Dortmund star Marco Reus over the summer. Though they weren't prepared to match BVB's £60 million asking price, they "remain interested" in the German.
Reus has already bagged six goals and an assist for Dortmund this season, and the world-class star is exactly the kind of signing United need to set the Premier League alight as they bid to return to their title-winning ways.

Luckhurst hinted at the forward's injury-prone reputation as something that could dissuade his suitors from making good on their interest. According to Transfermarkt, the Germany international has had several significant injuries since joining BVB in 2012, as well as a plethora of seemingly minor niggles.
However, now entering just his fourth season as a first-teamer at the club, Reus has made 129 appearances for Dortmund and racked up impressive tallies of 59 goals and 46 assists for the Bundesliga outfit.
Bleacher Report's Clark Whitney made the following comparison between Reus and Bayern Munich's forward options:
"No player in the Bundesliga, much less Munich, offers the shooting ability with both feet [Reus] has. And his ability to score both from distance and inside the penalty area makes him a truly rare asset. ...
[He] would be one of the fastest and best dribblers at Bayern as well, and he offers a unique combination of danger as a scorer and a provider that arguably makes him more of a complete package than any of the current Bayern attackers.
"
United's attack have looked uninspiring, indecisive and ponderous in the Premier League this season, as they have scored just three times in four matches—one of which was an own goal.
Young talents Memphis Depay and Anthony Martial have the potential to excite and add dynamism to United's front line. However, after seeing the departures of Angel Di Maria, Robin van Persie and more over the summer, the Red Devils need a guaranteed, proven forward to make an immediate impact.
Reus is exactly the kind of player who could transform United's play in the final third with creativity and incisiveness in front of goal.
He's unlikely to move in January if BVB maintain their fantastic start to the season, but the Red Devils should go all out to land him next summer.
