Max: McGregor 'Dangerous' ⚠️
The fight marks McGregor's first time back in action since 2021, when he broke his leg in a loss to Dustin Poirier at UFC 264. McGregor has lost three of his last four bouts, two of which came against Poirier.
Holloway is also coming off a loss against Charles Oliveira at UFC 326 in March, and the 34-year-old has lost two of his last three fights. McGregor has a 22-6 career record, while Holloway is 27-9.
Saturday's fight will be the second bout between the two fighters. McGregor beat Holloway via unanimous decision in 2013. The rivalry has stood the test of time, though, as they had to be separated during their faceoff on Thursday.
And even though they haven't fought yet, Holloway is already looking forward to a rubber match in December.
"He was talking about some contract stuff, how he doesn't want to wait a year [to fight again]," he told reporters. "I told him, 'Don't need to worry, bro. I got you.' I go out there and get my hand raised in some crazy fashion, poke the bear a little bit more [with McGregor], poke [UFC CEO] Dana White, and we do Allegiant Stadium in December."
Hollway is clearly confident, but McGregor is looking to make a splash in his return to UFC. Whether his five-year absence will help or hurt him remains to be seen.
