Sheamus Bids Farewell to WWE in Social Media Post Amid Rumors on Star's Future
Longtime WWE Superstar Sheamus took to social media on Friday to bid farewell to the company.
In a post on X, Sheamus included his "banger after banger" catchphrase, as well as a line written in Irish:

Fresh Backstage WWE and AEW Rumors 😳

Jim Ross Set for Brain Surgery
According to NoDQ.com, the Irish phrase translates to, "Goodbye, my WWE friends."
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select reported Sunday that Sheamus' WWE contract was about to expire, and he was set to leave the company.
Fightful Select (h/t Neal Flanagan of Post Wrestling) then followed up with a report that Sheamus turned down a "restructured extension" with WWE.
With that, the 48-year-old veteran's WWE tenure comes to an end, and he departs the promotion as one of the most decorated Superstars in history.
Sheamus accomplished nearly everything possible during his WWE run, holding four world titles, five tag team titles and four United States titles in addition to being a one-time winner of the Royal Rumble, King of the Ring and Money in the Bank.
It long seemed as though Sheamus would be a WWE lifer, but it has become more commonplace for those types of performers to leave the company recently, including New Day members Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods, who departed in May.
While it isn't yet known what The Celtic Warrior's next step will be, AEW is always mentioned as a logical landing spot for former WWE talent since it is the second-biggest wrestling promotion.
WrestleVotes on Fightful Select (h/t SI.com's Rick Ucchino) reported this week that a person close to Sheamus believes he would "welcome the idea" of working for AEW, even if it is only on a short-term basis, provided the right opportunity emerges.
If Sheamus does sign with AEW, a logical utilization of him would be the revival of his tag team with Claudio Castagnoli, who previously wrestled under the name Cesaro.
In WWE, Sheamus and Cesaro formed a team called The Bar, and they were tag team champions on five different occasions.
Sheamus may be nearing the end of his in-ring career as he approaches 50 years of age, but he is still more than capable of putting on strong in-ring performances, which could make him a viable signing for AEW or any other company outside of WWE.
