Flau'jae Johnson Signs Unrivaled Contract After Being Picked by Storm in 2026 WNBA Draft
Seattle Storm rookie Flau'jae Johnson announced Monday she signed a multiyear contract with Unrivaled.
The 2026 first-round pick was among the college standouts who penned an NIL deal with the three-on-three league ahead of her senior season. Before that, she secured an equity stake in the endeavor.
"From signing one of the first NIL deals with Unrivaled to now joining the league as a player, it's been incredible to see this journey come full circle," Johnson said. "The level of competition, the attention the league generated, and the way it helped shine a spotlight on the game's biggest stars showed what's possible when athletes are given a platform built for them.
"Having been part of the Unrivaled family through its NIL program, I've had a front-row seat to that growth, and it's exciting to now officially join as a player. I'm excited to keep growing as a pro, compete against the best, and bring my game, my personality, and everything I represent to the league next season."
Johnson is the second notable name who will debut with Unrivaled in 2027. Golden State Valkyries star Gabby Williams committed last week after having played overseas for many of her previous offseasons away from the WNBA.
The momentum behind Unrivaled appears to be just as strong as it was when it launched in 2025, and signing Johnson for multiple seasons is a bet on both her and the league's continued direction.
The 5'10" guard has had a rough introduction to the WNBA, though. She's averaging 11.4 points on just 34 percent shooting along with dishing out nearly as many assists (2.3) as turnovers (2.1).
The Storm, meanwhile, have the WNBA's second-worst record (3-14) and are riding a 10-game losing streak.
