New Giannis Trade Rumors Reveal Heat 'Only Willing to Go So Far' in Deal for Bucks Star
The Miami Heat could have more limitations than just protecting Bam Adebayo when working out a potential trade for Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo, Anthony Chiang reported Friday for the Miami Herald.
According to Chiang, the Heat "doesn't want to gut its team and draft capital in a deal."
"Miami's front office is apparently only willing to go so far in a trade for Antetokounmpo," Chiang reported.

Chiang added that Adebayo is the only player considered "completely off limits," but the Heat "also doesn't want to give up all of its young players in a trade."
ESPN's Shams Charania previously reported the Heat offered the Bucks a package including Tyler Herro, Kel'el Ware, other players and multiple draft picks in a previous bid to acquire Antetokounmpo ahead of the February trade deadline.
NBA insider Marc Stein reported last weekend that Herro, Ware and Jaime Jacquez Jr. are "presumed certainties among Heat veterans to be headed to Milwaukee."
The Heat are also expected to send over the No. 13 pick in the 2026 NBA draft alongside additional draft stock, Stein reported.
Miami can't trade that pick directly, but could select a specific player on another team's behalf as part of a planned deal. The Heat could also add two future first-round picks.
Stein added Friday the Detroit Pistons should be "monitored" as a possible third party that could take Herro's contract on as part of the deal.
Chiang reported Friday that other Heat players including Kasparas JakuÄionis, Pelle Larsson and Nikola JoviÄ "are likely on the table," but that Miami "is seemingly drawing a line on how many" could be included in a potential trade.
The Heat might have some competition in their offer for Antetokounmpo from the Boston Celtics, who have previously been linked as a trade suitor.
How much of a threat the Celtics pose could depend on whether the franchise decides to part ways with Jaylen Brown. TheĀ Boston Globe'sĀ Gary Washburn reported earlier this week the franchise had not yet decided whether Brown might be on the table in a potential Antetokounmpo deal.
The Heat are running out of time to finalize a trade before the 2026 NBA draft kicks off Tuesday in Brooklyn. The Bucks are currently slated to draft at No. 10 before the Heat come on the board at No. 13.
