New Ben Simmons Rumors Reveal Kings Contract Details Ahead 2026-27 NBA Season

Ben Simmons may need to make the Sacramento Kings' opening night roster to get a payout from the deal he recently signed with the team.

HoopsHype's Michael Scotto reported Wednesday that Simmons' one-year contract with the Kings is non-guaranteed and worth "up to" $3.5 million.

Simmons will earn $1 million if he is on the roster when the Kings open the regular season on Oct. 21 at the Los Angeles Clippers, according to Scotto.

Simmons' representatives originally told ESPN's Shams Charania the term and maximum possible payout from the deal.

The former No. 1 pick has not seen regular-season NBA action since the 2024-25 season. He split that campaign between the Brooklyn Nets and Los Angeles Clippers while averaging five points, 5.6 assists and 4.7 rebounds through 51 games.

Simmons told Men's Health's Clay Skipper he had been playing through pain related to nerve injuries at the time.

Adding Simmons gave the Kings additional depth after Russell Westbrook, signed to the team earlier this offseason, announced his retirement last month.

Simmons' ability to prove he's healthy during training camp and the preseason could be key to his hopes of cashing in on that first $1 million payout.
