College World Series 2026 Tuesday Scores, Winners and Bracket Results
The College World Series continued Tuesday with a pair of elimination games (West Virginia vs. Troy at 2 p.m. ET and Georgia vs. Texas at 8 p.m.).
Here's a look at how those games went down and what's ahead as the field dropped from six to four in Omaha, Nebraska. The latest CWS bracket can be viewed at NCAA.com.
West Virginia 12, Troy 0
West Virginia remained alive in the College World Series with a dominant 12-0 win over Troy.
Matthew Graveline started the scoring in the third inning with an RBI double to score Gavin Kelly. A wild pitch later scored Graveline for the 2-0 edge.
The Mountaineers later broke the game open in the sixth inning after a pair of two-out walks led to Kelly's three-run homer.
WVU added one more after Sean Smith's RBI single scored Paul Schoenfeld.
Ben Lumsden added another RBI single to score Matt Ineich in the seventh before WVU exploded for five in the ninth on a Brodie Kresser sac fly, a Guzman two-RBI double, a Kelly RBI single and a Schoen RBI groundout.
WVU starting pitcher Dawson Montesa got the win, throwing 5.1 innings while striking out six, walking four and allowing just two hits. He was followed in relief by three pitchers, including Reese Bassinger, whon was lights-out with five strikeouts over two frames.
Gavin Kelly went 2-for-5 with two runs and a team-high three RBI.
West Virginia now advances to play North Carolina. The Mountaineers will need to beat the Tar Heels twice to advance to the best-of-three CWS finals. That's because UNC beat WVU 5-2 on Sunday to put the Mountaineers one loss away from elimination.
However, WVU bounced back strong against Troy and will now play the Tar Heels on Wednesday at 2 p.m. ET. The "if necessary" game will be played Thursday at a time TBD.
This was a tough loss for Troy but an amazing run nonetheless for a team making its first-ever CWS appearance. The Trojans made the field as an at-large team and then emerged out of the Gainesville Regional as a No. 3 seed, defeating Miami once and then Florida, the No. 8 overall national seed, twice.
The Trojans then beat Little Rock by a combined 19-4 score over two games in the Super Regional before advancing to the CWS. They lost to WVU to open the CWS before beating Ole Miss 12-8 to knock the Rebels out.
Georgia 2, Texas 0
Both teams were quiet offensively to begin the second matchup of the day, as the score was still tied 0-0 through four innings of action.
Georgia broke the tie in the top of the fifth, as Brennan Hudson started the inning with a walk before advancing to third on a sacrifice bunt and a groundout. He eventually scored due to Tre Phelps' RBI double.
Texas threatened to tie the game in the bottom of the frame with a runner on second and two outs, but Phelps made an impressive catch at third to end the inning.
Rylan Lujo gave the Bulldogs some more breathing room in the top of the seventh, as his sacrifice fly drove in Ryan Black for a 2-0 lead.
Texas couldn't respond for the rest of the game, sealing the final result.
The Longhorns finished with just four hits as a team, leaving seven runners on base and going 0-for-5 with runners in scoring position.
Meanwhile, the Bulldogs were led by a strong pitching performance from Dylan Vigue and Justin Byrd. Vigue and Byrd combined to record 12 strikeouts compared to just three walks in nine innings of work.
