"I worked all my life for this," the 40-year-old said after the match. "For this moment, for this dream. A lot of generations in the past were dreaming of this. They did their shift, ex-football players from the national team, and now the dream comes true. All of us, we are happy, because we worked a lot to be here. We deserve to be here. A great game against Spain, because they are one of the best national teams in the world."
Cabo Verde made their World Cup debut on Monday. It's hard to imagine a better start to that journey than Monday's result against one of the favorites to win the entire tournament.
