USA Dominates in World Cup Opener ๐ฅ
The United States is playing its first World Cup on home soil since 1994, and expectations are high as the USMNT brings its best roster in recent memory.
The health of the squad was a big question mark coming into the tournament, namely defender Chris Richards, who is dealing with an ankle injury. Richards was in the starting XI for Friday's match, though, which is a good sign that he's at least close to 100 percent.
The United States boasts a strong attack highlighted by Folarin Balogun, Christian Pulisic and Malik Tillman, but the U.S. will need its defense to step up since that has been an area of concern.
The USMNT also gains a major edge from having a home crowd behind it.
How far the United States will go remains to be seen, but Friday's match should be fairly easy. From there, qualifying and even winning the group is manageable, and even a quarterfinal appearance isn't entirely out of reach.
