Noah Lyles Drops Arrogant Quote After Winning 100-Meter Race in Rome Event
American sprinter Noah Lyles won the 100-meter in the Wanda Diamond League event in Rome on Thursday with a time of 9.88 seconds.
Lyles had every right to be proud and confident afterward, and he told the world how he really felt afterward.

"I had a great finish," Lyles said, per Liam Tharme of The Athletic. "I can go again. Who wants to go? I am not showing (up) anywhere to lose. I am here to win. Ten metres before the finish line I knew the race was over. I was thinking about how I was going to celebrate it."
Emmanuel Eseme of Cameroon finished second with a time of 9.94 seconds. Letsile Tebogo of Botswana (9.95), Jordan Anthony of the United States (9.96 seconds) and Italy's Marcell Jacobs (9.99 seconds) rounded out the top five.
As for Lyles, this was a season-best mark for the 28-year-old and the second-best time overall in the 100m this season, per Tharme. Kayinsola Ajayi of Nigeria, who competes for Auburn, ran a 9.84 in late May.
Lyles has enjoyed a great few years. He won 100m gold and 200m bronze at the 2024 Paris Olympics. At the 2025 World Championships, Lyles won two golds (200m, 4x100m relay) and one bronze (100m) after dealing with a groin injury earlier this year.
Lyles got married to fellow Olympian Junelle Bromfield this year, and now he's clocked a great time in Rome.
