It was the defending champion Longhorns who came out on top in Game 1, moving one win away from securing the national championship.
Despite Mihyia Davis opening the scoring with a solo home run in the top of the first inning for Texas Tech, the frame ultimately belonged to Texas.
The Longhorns answered with five runs in the bottom half of the inning, beginning with a leadoff home run from Katie Stewart, who has been one of the hottest hitters of the Women's College World Series.
Kaiah Altmeyer added a RBI, and Ashton Maloney delivered a two-run triple as Texas quickly built a 5-1 advantage.
Viviana Martinez added to Texas' offensive outburst in the fourth inning with a RBI infield single before Texas Tech's Mia Williams cut into the deficit with a two-run home run in the fifth, trimming the Longhorns' lead to 6-3.
Martinez struck again in the sixth, driving in another run with a sacrifice fly to give Texas a 7-3 advantage heading into the final inning.
From there, Teagan Kavan slammed the door on any comeback hopes, retiring the side in order in the seventh inning to secure the victory. Kavan finished with six strikeouts, allowing three hits and three earned runs on two home runs over seven innings.
