Milwaukee 13, No. 4 Auburn 8
Milwaukee pulled off one of the top upset victories of the day, taking down Auburn with an explosive offensive performance.
The Panthers started off strong, jumping out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning that was highlighted by a three-run homer by Bradyn Horn.
Milwaukee scored two more runs in the second inning, holding a commanding 6-0 advantage heading into the third.
The Panthers struck again in the top of the fourth inning, as senior outfielder Charlie Marion launched a three-run homer of his own.
While the Tigers scored seven runs from the bottom of the fourth through the seventh inning, they still weren't able to overcome the 10-run deficit.
Milwaukee finished the game with 16 hits and six walks as a team.
East Carolina 7, Tennessee 3
Nine innings weren't enough to decide the winner of East Carolina's clash with Tennessee, as the game didn't end until the bottom of the 14th.
While East Carolina took a 2-1 lead in the top of the ninth inning, Tennessee sent the contest to extras following Henry Ford's solo home run with two outs in the bottom of the frame.
Both teams scored once in the 13th inning before the Pirates racked up four runs in the top of the 14th. Their impressive inning included a solo homer from Walker Barron.
Tennessee couldn't complete a late rally, as East Carolina emerged victorious.
St. Mary's 3, No. 1 UCLA 2
The largest upset of the day belonged to St. Mary's pulling off a surprising victory over UCLA, the top-seeded team in the country.
While the Bruins held a 2-1 lead through five innings, St. Mary's tied the game with Makoa Sniffen's RBI double in the top of the sixth.
The tie was eventually broken in the top of the ninth inning, as a solo home run from Jacob Johnson put St. Mary's in front and proved to be the difference in the game.
St. Mary's starting pitcher John Damozonio allowed just two runs in seven innings of work, racking up six strikeouts compared to two walks.
It was a shocking loss for the Bruins, as they entered the tournament with a 51-6 record.
St. John's def. No. 10 Florida State, 6-5
St. John's stunned Florida State by outscoring the Seminoles 4-0 over the last two innings.
Trailing 5-2 heading into the eighth inning, St. John's tied the game with three runs on a series of wild pitches.
St. John's completed the comeback in the ninth inning with an RBI single from Jayder Raifstanger.
That comeback allowed the Red Storm to claim its first win in the opening round of the NCAA regional tournament since 2012.
No. 7 Alabama def. Alabama State, 21-3
Alabama defeated Alabama State with a historic blowout victory.
The Crimson Tide racked up 21 runs to mark the program's largest margin of victory in NCAA tournament history.
The Friday evening blowout started with a six-run fourth inning.
Alabama continued racking up runs by sending 12 runners home over the next three innings.
Alabama closed out the victory with 15 hits, including four home runs, from nine different players.
