Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and the Thunder secured a 122-113 win over Victor Wembanyama and the Spurs during the matchup, tying the series at 1-1.
The game was closer than the final score indicates, as San Antonio only trailed by five points with just over one minute left in the fourth quarter before Oklahoma City went on a quick 4-0 run to seal the win.
Game 1 also contained a historic audience, becoming the most-watched series-opening clash of the Western Conference Finals by averaging a total audience delivery of 9.2 million viewers.
The Spurs emerged victorious in Game 1, winning in double overtime by the final score of 122-115.
It isn't hard to see why the matchup is drawing plenty of attention. Oklahoma City and San Antonio finished with the two best records in the NBA during the regular season at 64-18 and 62-20, respectively.
This series is the first clash between two teams that won at least 62 regular-season games since the 1998 NBA Finals.
The Thunder are looking for their second consecutive championship and boast an offense led by Gilgeous-Alexander, who captured his second straight MVP honor this year.
Meanwhile, Wembanyama is looking to help the Spurs reach the Finals after earning unanimous Defensive Player of the Year recognition at 22 years old.
Game 3 between Oklahoma City and San Antonio is on Friday. Tip-off is at 8:30 p.m. ET.
