Philadelphia Eagles running back Ja'Quinden Jackson was taken off the field in an ambulance during Saturday's preseason matchup against the New England Patriots.

The Eagles said in a statement that Jackson "has strength and movement in all extremities" and is being taken to the hospital for further evaluation.

Jackson suffered the injury during the opening kickoff.

Jackson, 24, went undrafted in 2025 and signed with Jacksonville, spending the season on the team's practice squad. He signed a futures contract with the team in January but was waived in May. He was then signed by the Eagles in August.

In four collegiate seasons between Utah (2021-23) and Arkansas (2024) he rushed for 2,148 yards and 29 touchdowns, adding 23 receptions for 200 yards.

This summer he was battling for a roster spot on the Eagles. Saquon Barkley and Tank Bigsby are locks to make the roster and Will Shipley seems likely to secure a spot as well, leaving players like Jackson, Dameon Pierce and Carson Steele to impress the Eagles enough to either keep four running backs on the 53-man roster or earn a spot on the practice squad.
