Rolando Romero-Teofimo Lopez Live Updates and Highlights From Tonight's Card

Rolly Romero will continue his big-game hunting campaign in boxing's welterweight division on Saturday when he defends his WBA 147-pound title against former two-division champ Teofimo Lopez at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Romero, a failed title challenger at 135 pounds before a brief title run at 140, earned his current strap with a surprise decision over Ryan Garcia in an outdoor bout at Times Square in New York in May 2025.

He'll risk that belt against Lopez, who defeated Vasyl Lomachenko to become a lightweight champ in 2020 and topped Josh Taylor to win a title at 140 pounds in 2023. He defended the latter championship three times before dropping it by wide decision to Shakur Stevenson in his more recent fight in January.

Romero began his career with 14 straight wins before a sixth-round loss to Gervonta Davis for Davis's second-tier lightweight belt. He defeated Ismael Barroso for a title at 140 a year later but lost it by eighth-round KO to Isaac Cruz.

Lopez was 16-0 after beating Lomachenko but lost his crown to George Kambosos Jr. in his first defense a year later. He moved to 140 and won six straight fights, including the title win over Taylor, before the loss to Stevenson in New York City.
