Cope & Cage Beat FTR for Tag Titles
O'Reilly earned a title opportunity at Double or Nothing by virtue of his performance on Wednesday's episode of Dynamite, as he went to a time-limit draw with Moxley in a championship eliminator match.
For O'Reilly, that marked the continuation of a lengthy run of success over Mox, which started with a series of matches last year.
O'Reilly defeated Moxley by disqualification on an October 2025 episode of Dynamite, and he followed that up by making Moxley tap in a Blood and Guts match and then submitted Mox again in a No Holds Barred match at Full Gear.
Although he was victorious at Full Gear back in November, O'Reilly suffered an injury during the match, and it kept him on the shelf for the next five months.
O'Reilly returned at Dynasty last month as the surprise partner of fellow Conglomeration members Roderick Strong and Orange Cassidy in their AEW World Trios Championship match against The Dogs.
The Conglomeration won the titles at Dynasty, and they have continued to hold them since then, but O'Reilly temporarily turned his attention back to Moxley and singles gold.
O'Reilly entered Double or Nothing with a ton of momentum on his side and the belief that he could beat Moxley, but Mox was never going to be a pushover, as he brought a five-month title reign with him into the pay-per-view.
During that reign, Moxley had successful defenses against the likes of Konosuke Takeshita and Will Ospreay, plus he had to beat Kazuchika Okada to win it in the first place.
Those wins meant Moxley was battle tested, and he used that to his advantage en route to finally getting the better of O'Reilly at Double or Nothing.
