In Heritage Auctions' official description of the knee brace, it is stated that Austin wore the brace on numerous occasions during his run of dominance in WWE from 1998 to 2001.
Austin himself confirmed the authenticity of the brace in a letter, writing, "P.S. This brace is as dirty as it was the night I took it off my leg. Been sitting in Texas at the BSR. I probably wore this brace between 1998-2000. No way to tell for sure. But one this I do know This sumb---h has stomped many a mudhole...And walked every single one of 'em dry. SA."
From 1998 to 2001, Austin established himself as one of the biggest stars in the history of the pro wrestling business, and he took part in some of the most significant WWE matches of all time as well.
Heritage Auctions noted that it is "confident" the knee brace that was auctioned off was worn by Austin when he won his first WWE Championship by beating Shawn Michaels in the main event of WrestleMania 14 in March 1998.
Although Heritage Auctions did not provide confirmation of any other matches the brace may have been worn in, Austin also headlined WrestleMania 15 and WrestleMania 17 against The Rock during the 1998 to 2001 timeline.
Adding to the value of the knee brace is the fact that it is autographed by Austin as well.
