Everything Ronda Rousey, Gina Carano Said Ahead of Historic MMA Fight on Netflix
Ronda Rousey and Gina Carano spoke about their upcoming matchup on Netflix (Saturday, May 16) during a press conference on Monday.
And an undercurrent of respect ran throughout their remarks.
"I feel like, however this goes, if she takes me out and puts me down on the canvas, I think that she's going to be the first person to help me up," Rousey said of Carano. "And if I take her down and tap her out, I'll be the first person to help her up. We don't need to hate each other to give each other our best."

Ronda Rousey vs. Gina Carano Main Card Predictions
Not that the pair didn't also gas themselves up, alongside commenting on a number of topics heading into the fight:
While Rousey and Carano are past their fighting primes, Saturday's matchup will still feature two of the most biggest names in the history of women's MMA.
Rousey, 39, is 12-2 in her career, but her rise was meteoric. She won her first 10 fights and her first six fights in the UFC, defending her Bantamweight title six times. She was known for fast finishes, often employing her signature armbar to submit opponents.
She lost her final two UFC fights, however, falling to Holly Holm and Amanda Nunes, and hasn't fought professionally since 2016, instead focusing on other ventures like a WWE career.
Carano, 44, is 7-1 in her MMA career, with her lone loss coming in her final fight in 2009 against Cris Cyborg. She transitioned to a career in entertainment after the end of her fighting career.
Rousey dominated the sport in a way that Carano never did, so she's the heavy favorite. But it sounds as though both fighters head into the matchup with a strong amount of respect for one another.
