Jake Paul Argues Rousey vs. Carano Fight Card is Better Than UFC White House Event in Video
Ahead of Netflix's first-ever MMA event headlined by Ronda Rousey vs. Gina Carano on Saturday, Jake Paul is confident that the card will outdo the UFC's Freedom 250 event at the White House next month.
While speaking to Uncrowned's Ariel Helwani on Monday's episode of The Ariel Helwani Show, Paul said he feels the UFC made the right decision by not attempting to counter-program Netflix's fight night, which is being promoted by his Most Valuable Promotions.
"You wouldn't want to compete with this show, and I don't think they could," Paul told Helwani.
In addition to Rousey and Carano finally meeting for their long-awaited dream fight, Saturday's fight card at the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles will also feature the MMA returns of former UFC stars Francis Ngannou, Nate Diaz and Mike Perry.
While Paul and MVP were praised for the card they put together for their first MMA event, the UFC received a lukewarm response when it announced that Freedom 250 on June 14 would be headlined by a lightweight championship unification fight between titleholder Ilia Topuria and interim champ Justin Gaethje. In the co-main event, former light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira will face Ciryl Gane for the interim heavyweight title.
Paul added that he feels the UFC's card is being propped up by the White House, while Netflix's event on Saturday carries the star power that fans have been hoping for.
"I think they're at the same level, to be honest, but mostly because of the White House," Paul said. "If we just talk talent and names, then our card is better."
