What's Next For Roman Reigns, Jacob Fatu and The Bloodline After WWE Backlash?
WWE Backlash went off the air Saturday from Tampa with Jacob Fatu establishing dominance over Roman Reigns, raising the World Heavyweight Championship overhead in defiance of The Tribal Chief's tainted victory over The Samoan Werewolf.
Great booking helped Fatu emerge as one of the hottest wrestlers on the roster, but what is next for him, the world champion, and The Bloodline as a whole in the wake of the premium live event?
Find out now with this preview of things to come.
Jacob Fatu
1 of 3
Fatu emerged from Backlash as the most buzz-worthy star in the company, thanks to some extraordinary booking that had him looking like an unstoppable force and immovable object, despite a loss to Reigns in the main event.
That the crowd turned in his favor, breaking out into a united "Fatu!" chant as he downed The Tribal Chief and tossed aside any referees or officials attempting to contain him, only added to the overall success of the night and further positioned The Samoan Werewolf as a genuine main event star emerging from the premium live event.
Expect that trend and Fatu's pursuit of the World Heavyweight Championship to continue as soon as Monday night on Raw, where he is expected at the Roman Reigns Acknowledgement Ceremony.
This is a feud that could very well stretch through the rest of the summer and all the way to SummerSlam, if WWE officials wanted it to, with potential match-ups against The Usos and any other prospective No. 1 contenders entertaining Fatu until the big rematch with Reigns for the top prize on the flagship show.
It probably will not go that long in between Fatu vs. Reigns bouts, but it would certainly be an option for the company in an attempt to keep things relatively fresh.
Roman Reigns
2 of 3
In the immediate future, we know Reigns is due for some time off. He will not appear on Monday Night Raw throughout June as he is not currently advertised or expected to appear at the June 27th Night of Champions event from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
After that, though, Reigns will look to continue his run as the world champion, all while flirting with the fine line between babyface and heel as he continues to gaslight and manipulate his family members, apparently not learning the lesson following his first run as champion.
He will continue to say he does not want The Usos to do his bidding for him, only for Jimmy and Jey to pop up on Raw and SmackDown to convince whichever opponent has stepped to him that week.
He will soak in the adulation of the audience but still take his place at the Head of the Table, still condescend to his opponents, and still claim that the WWE Universe belongs to him.
Reigns has unfinished business with Fatu in a rivalry that could go as long, or as short, as WWE officials want it to, especially after he cheated by exposing a turnbuckle and utilizing the exposed metal to beat Fatu. Still, one would have to assume that the endgame to this run by The Tribal Chief is an inevitable showdown with Oba Femi.
That may not occur until next WrestleMania, but for now, expect Reigns to be the same Tribal Chief he was during his reign of terror, regardless of whether the audience is inexplicably cheering him or not.
The Bloodline
3 of 3
The Usos have, thus far, pledged allegiance to Reigns as he reassumes power in WWE. They have tried to get Fatu on board in an attempt to reunite the Bloodline, as much for their own self-preservation after months of frustrating results as any.
Expect Jimmy and Jey's roles to expand as Reigns takes time off in June. They will be all over TV while recruiting Fatu, which means eating Samoan Drops and Tongan Death Grips along the way.
The biggest question is whether anyone will be introduced or welcomed back into the fold. While many await what they believe to be the inevitable arrival of Zilla Fatu to WWE, the next member of the Bloodline may be a familiar face.
Solo Sikoa's involvement in the storyline was not accidental. He introduced Fatu to the WWE Universe, unleashed him on it, actually. Fatu acknowledged that Sikoa is the only family member who looks out for him.
With Sikoa about to look for backup against Tama Tonga, could Reigns and The Usos look to the former enforcer of the Bloodline for a reunion? Imagine The OTC and his cousins reuniting with Sikoa, with the idea that he will deliver Fatu if they back him up in a rivalry with Tonga.
Regardless, Sikoa's influence on this storyline is not over, with Tama and Talla Tonga also involved; maybe all three join forces with the Bloodline and provide the strongest, most united front we have ever seen out of the faction.
