Juwan Thompson Injury: Updates on Broncos Star's Neck and Return

Joe PantornoSep 27, 2015

Denver Broncos running back Juwan Thompson has been nursing a neck injury but will play in Week 4, per the team.

The second-year running back out of Duke faced an uphill battle before the injury, as he is buried on the depth chart behind C.J. Anderson and Ronnie Hillman.

But Thompson showed plenty of upside in his rookie year for Denver. Though he had only 54 attempts for 272 yards, he averaged 5.0 yards per rush and added three touchdowns.

With such competition at the running back spot, Broncos head coach Gary Kubiak will be able to keep a short leash and at times a revolving door at the position to make sure he is getting the best output.

Thompson impressed at training camp, showing his grit and tenacity, according to DenverBroncos.com's Andrew Mason:

Denver's three-headed running attack gets more dangerous with Thompson back to join Anderson and Hillman. However, Thompson will have to take advantage of the limited chances he receives upon his return if he wants to see time in Peyton Manning's backfield.
