WWE's Danhausen Uncursed Knicks in Video Ahead of Historic 51-Point NBA Playoff Win

Mike ChiariMay 1, 2026

WWE Superstar Danhausen took some credit for the New York Knicks closing out the Atlanta Hawks in dominant fashion in the first round of the NBA playoffs on Thursday night.

The Knicks destroyed the Hawks 140-89 in Game 6, winning the series 4-2 and moving on to the second round of the playoffs for a fourth consecutive season.

New York led by 47 points at halftime, which set a new NBA playoff record, and the 51-point win marked the largest margin of victory in Knicks playoff history.

The Knicks advancing to the second round wasn't always a sure thing, though, as they were down 2-1 in the series, and Danhausen curse was considered a potential culprit.

While promoting WrestleMania 42 last month, Danhausen appeared on ESPN's First Take and cursed Stephen A. Smith, who is a well-known Knicks fan.

The Knicks fell behind 2-1 to Atlanta shortly thereafter, leading to plenty of social media chatter about Danhausen's potential impact.

However, prior to Game 6, J-Starr of BodySlam.net bought a Cameo message from Danhausen, and as part of the Cameo, Danhausen agreed to uncurse the Knicks:

Danhausen then responded to X posts about the Knicks' massive halftime lead and eventual victory, suggesting that he played a role in it:

The "very nice, very evil" WWE star had previously offered to lift the curse if Smith would pay him, but Smith refused:

That put the Knicks in a precarious position, but Danhausen still uncursed them just in the nick of time.

Danhausen has only wrestled two matches since joining WWE in February, but thanks to his backstage antics and growing mainstream appeal, he has quickly become a fan favorite.

If the Knicks go on to make a deep run in the NBA playoffs, then he could become a beloved figure even among New Yorkers who aren't necessarily wrestling fans as well.
