Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
During an appearance Friday on NFL Network's Good Morning Football, Seth Rollins spoke for the first time about his surprise return at Elimination Chamber last weekend.
Rollins interfered during the men's Elimination Chamber match in the main event of the night by hitting Logan Paul with a Stomp and costing him the match. During a discussion about his return on GMFB (h/t WrestlePurists), Rollins revealed what he was feeling as everything unfolded.
"I was under the ring, I'm coming out, and I'm feeling all the chaos that's happening around us," Rollins said. "United Center is electric, it's insane. We're in the main event of the Elimination Chamber. Everybody had just crushed it throughout the entire night. It was my moment to shine. I got to get in there. I'm staring across from that idiot Logan Paul. I'm just looking him right in his little beady eyes. So excited that I get to stomp his head into the ground.
"I'm just trying to soak it in. The hardest thing in that moment is to not move. It's the hardest thing in the world because the energy is off the charts. … You want to just lose it, all the adrenaline going through your body. The hardest thing in the world is to just stand there and soak it in. But it was nice. It felt really, really good to be back."
Rollins had been out since October due to a shoulder injury, and it was unclear if he would be able to make it back in time for WrestleMania 42 in April.
However, over the past several weeks, a storyline has played out, featuring a masked assailant going after members of The Vision and hitting them with Rollins' signature Stomp.
Even if the mystery attacker wasn't actually portrayed by Rollins until Elimination Chamber, it was a sign that WWE felt good about Rollins getting back into the fold.
After costing Paul at Elimination Chamber, Rollins appeared on Raw. Other masked men drew Paul and Austin Theory out of the ring, allowing Rollins to hit Paul Heyman with a steel chair before taking him out with a Stomp.
All signs point toward Rollins facing a member of The Vision at WrestleMania, although it isn't certain who his opponent will be, especially since Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed are on the shelf with hernia and biceps injuries, respectively.
Road Dogg's Reported WWE Role After Creative Team Departure
Despite his departure from WWE's creative team, WWE Hall of Famer Road Dogg is reportedly still part of the company in a different capacity.
According to PWInsider.com (h/t Steve Carrier of Ringside News), Road Dogg remains under a WWE legends contract, which is separate from the deal he had as a creative writer.
The report surfaced after Road Dogg was still being advertised for meet-and-greet appearances at WWE World in Las Vegas during WrestleMania week.
BodySlam.net (h/t Carrier) was the first to report Thursday that Road Dogg left his position on the WWE creative team after previously serving as the co-lead writer on SmackDown.
In a follow-up, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (h/t WrestlePurists) reported that Road Dogg was unhappy with his annual review, which led to him deciding to leave his post on the creative team.
A source with knowledge of the situation told Meltzer that Road Dogg's departure had been "brewing" for quite some time.
It is unclear how or if Road Dogg's absence will impact WWE's on-screen product moving forward, but it is a significant development given that he has had a backstage role for the better part of the past decade.
Reported Future Plans for Ethan Page
Ethan Page has been at or near the top of NXT for nearly two years, but his time with the brand reportedly may not be coming to an end quite yet.
According to BodySlam.net (h/t Randall Ortman of Cageside Seats), there are plans for Page to work in "the main event title scene in NXT" before calling him up to the main roster.
At 273 days, Page had the longest NXT North American Championship reign in history before dropping it to Myles Borne last week. Page then lost his title rematch against Borne this week on NXT.
At NXT Vengeance Day on Saturday, Joe Hendry will put the NXT Championship on the line against Ricky Saints. If his title defense is successful, Page could potentially be Hendry's next challenger at Stand & Deliver next month.
Perhaps that would be Page's last hurrah in NXT, as BodySlam.net added that WWE has had discussions about calling Page up to the main roster.
The 36-year-old Page has arguably been the highlight of NXT since signing with WWE in 2024 following a stint in AEW.
He has ascended to the role of a top heel thanks to his strong work on the mic and in the ring, and he figures to add a ton to either Raw or SmackDown when the time comes for him to take the next step.
