Did Alex Honnold Complete the Netflix Skyscraper Live Climb? Latest Updates on Historic Free Solo
Alex Honnold has successfully scaled one of the world's tallest skyscrapers without ropes or a safety net.
Honnold reached the top of Taipei 101 after 1:31:35 of free climbing.
His climb of Taipei 101 started streaming live on Netflix on Saturday night around 8 p.m. ET.
Around 45 minutes into the climb, Honnold waved to his wife Sanni McCandless Honnold, who was watching from inside the 60th floor of Taipei 101.
Honnold took a break to clean his shoes around the one hour mark of the climb.
He also managed to hold conversations with the Netflix broadcast team, which includes WWE star Seth Rollins, and greet fans during the climb.
After commenting on how "cool" the climb was, Honnold said he was "kind of tired" about one hour and 20 minutes in.
Fans screamed as Honnold removed his hands and held on with only his legs during his approach to the Taipei 101 spire.
Honnold took a selfie at the top once he climbed the spire. He will descend using the elevator inside Taipei 101.
Prior to his Taipei 101 climb, Honnold was best known for his free climb of Yosemite's El Capitan that was featured in the 2018 documentary Free Solo.
