AEW Dynamite Results, Winners, Live Grades, Reaction and Highlights From Jan. 7

Kevin BergeJan 7, 2026

The first Dynamite of 2026 aired from the BOK Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma where All Elite Wrestling promised violence and chaos on January 7.

Hangman Adam Page and Swerve Strickland promised unrestricted destruction when they collided with Hook and Powerhouse Hobbs in a Lights Out Match.

Jon Moxley collided with Shelton Benjamin in a Continental Championship Eliminator. Could The Hurt Syndicate earn a title shot to start the year?

MJF was contractually obligated to appear and speak, and he would certainly be watching his first challenger Bandido in action against Sammy Guevara.

Tensions have risen to a fever pitch ahead of "Timeless" Toni Storm and Marina Shafir meeting one-on-one in the ring this week.

This was an important show for AEW that needed to continue setting a new tone for a new year.

Continental Championship Eliminator: Jon Moxley vs. Shelton Benjamin

1 of 7

Last Time in Action: Shelton Benjamin defeated Dante Martin (Collision, January 3); Jon Moxley defeated Josh Alexander in his first Continental Championship Elimination (Dynamite: New Year's Smash, December 31).

Mox slapped the hand of Benjamin rather than showing respect with a handshake as this started. He paid for it quickly as The Gold Standard and The Death Rider got physical quickly.

They fought into the crowd where referee Paul Turner tried to appeal to the wrestlers to return to the ring, almost forced to count them out.

Out of the commercial, Benjamin pushed the pace with a Butterfly Superplex, but Mox kept firing back. Even Benjamin's own version of Suplex City was not able to stop

A Pay Dirt from Benjamin nearly sealed the win, impressing MVP on commentary. The Death Rider again barely kicked out after a superkick, rallying to a Paradigm Shift for the wildest near-fall of the match.

With less than 5 seconds left on the 20-minute time limit, Mox turned a triangle choke into a pin for the surprise three.

This was a physical battle that sold both men as top veterans in the company. While it was not a win for Benjamin, he looked incredible throughout.

Mox has continued to sell that he is walking into these matches banged up, and his opponents are not making it easy on him.

Here, it was clear that The Gold Standard had the lead for most of this match, but Mox's toughness had Benjamin shaken. Nothing would keep him down.

It is hard to get much better than this in terms of TV action, and Mox continues an unreal run.

While the match was great, the aftermath of a frustrated MVP may have bigger implications for AEW than the contest itself. With Bobby Lashley out with injury, The Hurt Syndicate need to go back to recruiting.

Result

Mox def. Benjamin by pinfall at 19:55.

Notable Moments and Observations

  • The show started with Justin Roberts welcoming back Jim Ross, who joined commentary.
  • MVP joined commentary as well before the match started.
  • After not showing respect to start, Mox shook the hand of Benjamin afterward.
  • Backstage, Darby Allin arrived on his skateboard, clearly on the hunt for Death Riders.
  • The Demand vs. "Jungle" Jack Perry and The Young Bucks

    2 of 7
Jack Perry with The Young Bucks.
"Jungle" Jack Perry and The Young Bucks reunited in 2026.

Last Time in Action: The Demand and Josh Alexander lost to JetSpeed and Jurassic Express (Worlds End: Zero Hour, December 27, 2025); The Young Bucks and "Jungle" Jack Perry lost to Private Party and Daniel Garcia (Dynamite, October 23, 2024).

After an attack by the newest member of the Don Callis Family, Jake Doyle, on JetSpeed before the show started, "Jungle" Jack Perry came out alone, looking surprisingly confident.

Matt and Nick Jackson arrived to back up Perry, teaming with Jungle Jack for the first time since their friendship fell apart.

In a wild athletic spectacle, The Demand slowly lost control of the action over time, worn out by the unreal athleticism of The Elite back together.

Perry managed to kick out a springboard 450 by Ricochet. The Young Bucks saved Jungle Jack from a pin after a Vertigo as well.

A modified BTE Trigger to Ricochet with Perry adding a third knee sealed the victory.

Afterward, Jake and Mark Davis started a vicious attack on The Elite. The injured JetSpeed tried to even the odds, but the lights went out. Andrade arrived to rejoin The Family again, standing tall over their enemies.

Ricochet had tried his best to escape Perry, but for the second time in tag team action, Jungle Jack had pinned the National champion.

This should lead to a big rematch between the two for the gold, and it could set up a surprise title change this time around.

The action was fast and hard-hitting throughout. While the obvious stars shined, Toa Liona and Bishop Kaun always looked like they belonged in this match.

The post-match tried to do too much, but it also set up multiple exciting matches for the future.

It is great to see El Idolo back after WWE contract drama delayed the company's plan. With The Don Callis Family even bigger now, the stable may need to start letting some people go soon.

    Result

Perry, Matt and Nick def. Ricochet, Liona and Kaun by pinfall.

    Notable Moments and Observations

  • AEW aired a vignette on Kenny Omega's challenge to MJF last week, further solidifying that as one of the company's biggest story focuses in 2026.
  • Despite Omega saying he was dealing with business while The Young Bucks healed up, they returned to the ring before The Cleaner.
  • Liona dropped all three members of The Elite with a massive Samoan Drop.
  • Jim Ross was massively impressed with GOA on commentary, clearly not as familiar with their work as the others in the match.
  • Perry tried to deliver a follow-up message to The One and Only, but The Don Callis Family struck from behind.
  • FTR arrived afterward with Stokely Hathaway in a wheelchair to stare down the field of potential challengers.
  • Mercedes Moné is Embarrassed Again for Willow Nightingale's Title Celebration

    3 of 7

Willow Nightingale celebrated her championship victory, taking center stage with Kris Statlander and Harley Cameron behind her.

She then welcomed Mercedes Moné, who came out in mourning gear. A fight broke out where The CEO was sent face first into cake then Powerbombed onto it by Willow.

This was a fun segment for what it was, though it mostly just served to fuel The CEO's descent into madness then focus on the women in the ring.

It would have been nice to hear from the AEW women's world champion in all this, and it was a surprise that The Triangle of Madness only appeared in a post-segment promo afterward.

Hopefully, Thekla's challenge to the world champion and the tension behind that feud will intensify in the coming weeks rather than leaving her and Stat in the background.

    Grade

    C+

    Notable Moments and Observations

  • The lights went down for this segment, focusing the spotlight on Willow. It took a second to get the right lighting.
  • Willow teased that she would defend both of her titles on the same night if she had to, which could be foreshadowing.
  • The Triangle of Madness delivered a follow-up response backstage, challenging Stat, Willow and Harley to a trios match for next week's Dynamite.
  • In a pre-tape promo at home, Mark Briscoe hyped The Conglomerations' success and promised more to come when he fought Hechicero on Collision.

    Bandido vs. Sammy Guevara

    4 of 7
    Bandido as ROH World Champion.
Bandido continues to win, preparing himself to fight MJF for the AEW Men's World Championship.

Last Time in Action: Bandido defeated The Beast Mortos (Dynamite: New Year's Smash, December 31, 2025); Sammy Guevara alongside Rush and FTR lost to Bandido, JetSpeed and Juice Robinson (Collision, November 15, 2025).

Sammy Guevara had Bandido's number during the early stretch of this match, catching him time and again.

He spit water into the eyes of Bandido to stop an early rally. He caught him later in the ring with a perfect springboard cutter, but he could not keep the champ down.

After flipping out of the 21 Plex into a GTH for a near-fall, Bandido fought through into another 21 Plex for the win.

MJF immediately interrupted the celebration, heading out with Jon Cruz to translate for him into Spanish, only for Bandido to make clear he speaks English.

The Salt of the Earth tried to take back his Dynamite Diamond Ring but only got himself and Cruz knocked out with 21 Plexes.

While Guevara has been doing the work in Ring of Honor for a while, this was easily the best work he has done in AEW in at least a year.

They flowed perfectly through their offense, making The Spanish God look like a real threat to Bandido without ever diminishing the ROH world champion and No. 1 contender to the AEW Men's World Championship.

As good as the match was though, the aftermath was even better. After an underwhelming sell to MJF vs. Bandido last week, this was a perfect segment to sell the real threat of the challenger to the champion.

It also made clear how much The Salt of the Earth wanted his Dynamite Diamond Ring back, which could mean this will not end at just one match.

The stage is set for next week to deliver a special match that makes the most of the moment, even if it is clear MJF will not lose.

    Result

    Bandido def. Guevara by pinfall.

    Grade

    A

    Notable Moments and Observations

  • Sammy's nose got busted open during the match, and he intentionally spread the blood over his face before a Shooting Star Press to the floor.
  • MJF made sure to praise Cruz for coming to a "dump" like Tulsa to help him.
  • The Salt of the Earth promised to put over Bandido to Tony Khan and face him on pay-per-view in a decade or so.
  • AEW aired a hype package for Brody King, selling what makes him a unique big man.
  • "Timeless" Toni Storm (w/ Luther) vs. Marina Shafir (w/ Daniel Garcia, Wheeler Yuta)

    5 of 7
2025 TCM Classic Film Festival Opening Night Screening Of "Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back"
"Timeless" Toni Storm remains a central star of AEW, even without her world title.

Last Time in Action: Marina Shafir alongside Megan Bayne defeated Londyn Dior & Rache Chanel, and "Timeless" Toni Storm alongside Mina Shirakawa defeated Hyan and Maya World (Collision, January 3).

Shafir dominated the action in this match with Storm, using her pure striking and grappling advantages to wear out the former AEW women's world champion.

However, The Timeless One caught her with a headbutt into a Big Package, and Wheeler Yuta had to pull out the referee to stop the three count, causing a disqualification.

Afterward, Shafir knocked out Storm and Mina with kicks before Roderick Strong and Orange Cassidy arrived. As The Death Riders retreated, Claudio Castagnoli charged out but was held back by Daniel Garcia.

This was an important match based on the feud that has built between these two women so far, but it was certainly not pretty.

The Problem is still figuring it out as a singles competitor, especially in longer competition, and it showed. This lacked the usual rhythm and flow of a Storm match.

The DQ finish is also not a usual result for AEW and felt somewhat unnecessary. It was clear that Shafir had lost, and she got her heat back afterward anyway.

Shafir needed the win more, but Storm will never be an easy out for anyone. The Problem is not ready in the ring to defeat a former world champion.

It is unlikely that these two will fully find their chemistry in the ring, but the story is still engaging. A No DQ rematch would likely work better for all involved.

    Result

    Storm def. Shafir by DQ.

    Grade

    D+

    Notable Moments and Observations

  • Castagnoli ripped off his shirt as he arrived in one fluid motion.
  • Orange helped up both Storm and Mina, holding them both close to the anger of Luther behind him.
  • Renee Paquette interviewed Pac backstage. Darby Allin demanded a match, and when he couldn't get it, he attacked him. He threatened to break his ankle with a door until The Bastard agreed.
  • Lights Out: Hangman Adam Page and Swerve Strickland vs. The Opps

    6 of 7

Last Time in Action: Hangman Adam Page and Swerve Strickland defeated Powerhouse Hobbs and Katsuyori Shibata (Dynamite, December 10, 2025); Hook and Hobbs alongside Shibata defeated The Dark Order (Dynamite, December 3, 2025).

Hook avoided Page as much as he could, letting Hobbs deal with The Cowboy while he tried to take down Swerve.

When The Cowboy got his hands on The Handsome Devil, The Mogul threw him a staple gun to repeatedly staple Hook. Hobbs took many more staples until Hangman had to catch him with one between the legs.

Swerve and Hangman brought out a stack of cinder blocks, but Powerhouse took out The Mogul on them with a World's Strongest Slam.

This left The Cowboy to take a beatdown from the The Opps Dojo team of Hobbs and Hook. Prince Nana made the crucial save by splashing hot coffee in Powerhouse's face.

Hangman and Swerve turned the tide and took out Hobbs with a Dead Eye/Swerve Stomp on the cinder blocks followed by House Call, Swerve Stomp and hanging via chain to Hook for the win by submission.

This was silly, wild action for the home stretch of Dynamite, running over almost 20 minutes to allow maximum violent retribution for Hangman and Swerve.

It was far from the high-flying and technically great matches earlier in the night, but it stood out for its signature brand of hardcore violence.

No one was going for classic, just delivering the story that remains The Cowboy and The Mogul rallying together to make their enemies pay.

While both want the AEW Men's World Championship, all signs point to tag team gold with these men that find new creative team offense every week.

If they can find a third, they would be the perfect team to dethrone The Opps and make sure the AEW World Trios Championships are defended regularly again.

    Result

Hangman and Swerve def. Hook and Hobbs by submission.

    Grade

    B

    Notable Moments and Observations

  • The lights were again an issue, starting the match in near-pitch black for almost a minute.
  • Swerve and Hangman clearly set up multiple violent weapons under the ring for this, working together to deal out violence like a real team.
  • Nana saved Swerve from Hobbs smashing his head onto the cinder blocks with a steel chair.
  • Hook saved Hobbs from a Buckshot Lariat and saw his life flash before his eyes when Hangman turned around. The Opps Dojo grunts saved him.
  • Hobbs reversed a Buckshot Lariat into a spinning powerslam, and only Swerve giving Hobbs a House Call could save the pin.
  • Jim Ross was genuinely annoyed by the babyfaces savoring their revenge before the finish.
  • Overall Show

    7 of 7

The in-ring action this week was top notch, delivering time and again on a show that did not even get a special themed title.

In particular, Jon Moxley vs. Shelton Benjamin into The Elite vs. The Demand followed by Bandido vs. Sammy Guevara was PPV-quality action.

The actual story development was more limited for the week, but The Don Callis Family has grown even more dangerous while Hangman Adam Page and Swerve Strickland got some definitive revenge against The Opps.

It was not the best night for the women's division, mostly coasting off an incredible main event last week, but "Timeless" Toni Storm and Mercedes Moné continue to deliver fun camp.

By the close of the night, the hype was real for MJF vs. Bandido next week, and AEW had delivered multiple incredible matches that won't be easily forgotten.
