WWE Rumors on Seth Rollins' Injury Timeline, Joe Hendry's Push and Danhausen Contract
Bleacher Report catches you up on the latest news from the WWE Universe.
Seth Rollins' WrestleMania Status Unclear
The timeline for Seth Rollins' return from a shoulder injury has left his status for WrestleMania 42 up in the air.
Per Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (h/t Steve Carrier of Ringside News), people in WWE have said "the option was still open" for Rollins to make it on the 'Mania card but it is "far from a sure thing."
During a recent appearance on Jay Mohr's Mohr Stories podcast (h/t Shounak Chakrabarti of ClutchPoints), Rollins was noncommittal when asked if he would be ready for the biggest show of the year.
"I will be working hard to try," Rollins said. "I don't know the answer to that; it's really not up to me. They have to clear me."
There's sure to be skepticism about anything Rollins says when it comes to his health after the fake knee injury over the summer, leading to his Money in the Bank cash in at SummerSlam.
After undergoing surgery in October, The Visionary said he would be out of action for six months. That puts him right up against the timeframe to be ready for WrestleMania, which is taking place on April 18 and 19.
Since it could be difficult to properly build a match if Rollins can't do anything physical leading up to the show, one potential solution could be having him return during the event to set up a feud coming out of WrestleMania.
Rollins was injured when he landed on his shoulder doing a coast-to-coast headbutt on Cody Rhodes in their match at Crown Jewel. He was written off television the following day when Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed beat him up and kicked him out of The Vision.
Joe Hendry Considered for Main-Roster Push
After making his SmackDown debut on Friday night, Joe Hendry could become a fixture on the blue brand.
Per WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select (h/t Subhojeet Mukherjee of Ringside News), WWE officials are considering putting Hendry on the main roster as a full-time SmackDown superstar.
The report also notes that USA Network, which airs SmackDown, is "keen" on having Hendry as part of the show.
Hendry opened Friday's show by cutting a promo on The Miz, leading to the former two-time WWE champion coming to the ring for a confrontation that resulted in Nick Aldis setting up a Miracle on 34th Street Fight.
The Prestigious One got the victory with some assistance from Otis, Tozawa and R-Truth.
A call-up for Hendry certainly makes sense since he's already very over with the WWE audience thanks to his ridiculously-catchy theme song. There didn't appear to be any obvious direction for him in NXT since his last four TV appearances were all multi-person matches.
WWE Keeping Tabs on Danhausen
With Danhausen believed to be hitting free agency soon, WWE carve out a role for his unique persona.
Per WrestleVotes Radio (h/t Carrier), WWE would have interest in signing Danhausen with the feeling that his gimmick would work well in NXT.
Danhausen has been signed to AEW since 2022, but his working relationship with the promotion is likely coming to an end soon. He previously requested his release over the summer due to lack of creative plans for him, but AEW instead tacked on injury time to his deal.
His contract with AEW is believed to expire at some point in February. WWE was reportedly interested in him when he originally requested his release, so it would stand to reason that remains the case.
Danhausen last appeared on AEW television as part of the pre-show battle royal at Worlds End in December 2023. He did have one match in Ring of Honor against Brandon Cutler in February 2024.
Given how unique the Danhausen gimmick is, there's certainly an opening for him to succeed in an environment like NXT where he can also be used to help elevate some of the younger talent that needs seasoning with someone who has extensive in-ring experience.
