Some of the best matches of John Cena's career came against AJ Styles, so it should perhaps come as little surprise that Cena holds The Phenomenal One in high regard.
During an appearance this week on Insight with Chris Van Vliet (h/t Aaron Rift of NoDQ.com), Cena was asked to play word association with several wrestlers, including Styles.
When AJ's name came up, Cena called him the "best to ever do it" before adding, "Shawn's [Michaels] gonna be pissed, and God did Shawn ever take care of me. There's not a lot he [Styles] can't do, and he makes difficult look easy. But that is not God-given talent. That is practice. When you see difficult become seamless, it's because it's been done 10,000 times, and the amount of s--t he can do seamlessly. Man, he's the best to ever do it."
Styles joined WWE in January 2016, and it wasn't long before he entered into a rivalry with Cena.
The beloved Superstars faced each other in a memorable trilogy of one-on-one premium live event matches at Money in the Bank 2016, SummerSlam 2016 and Royal Rumble 2017 with Styles winning the first two meetings and Cena winning the third to tie the all-time record with 16 world title reigns.
Those are widely viewed as three of the best matches of Cena's career, and he added another to that list in October when he and AJ faced off one final time at Crown Jewel in Australia.
Cena prevailed in what was essentially a love letter to wrestling and their respective careers, as Cena used moves from past WWE rivals, and Styles did the same for wrestlers from his TNA past.
Even with both men approaching the end of their careers, their chemistry and in-ring acumen were on full display, bolstering Cena's assertion that Styles is an all-time great.
Reported Details on WWE's Masked Attacker Storyline
WWE has yet to reveal the identity of the mystery attacker that has been helping The Vision, and the creative team has reportedly gone to great lengths to keep fans guessing.
According to Bryan Alvarez of Wrestling Observer Live (h/t Steve Carrier of Ringside News), "at least two different people" have portrayed the masked assailant. Alvarez (h/t Subhojeet Mukherjee of Ringside News) also reported that it is "believed" Street Profits member Montez Ford donned the mask during Monday's episode of Raw.
Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (h/t Carrier) previously reported that Austin Theory was under the mask when the attacker debuted at Survivor Series.
During the main event of Survivor Series, which was a WarGames match pitting The Vision against a team led by CM Punk, Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns, the masked person climbed into the cage, hit Punk with Seth Rollins' signature stomp and then left, allowing The Vision to win.
On Raw this week, the masked attacker hit LA Knight with a stomp, allowing Vision member Logan Paul to beat him.
While the mysterious person is doing Rollins' finishing move, he doesn't figure to be revealed as the person behind it since he is recovering from a shoulder injury and was essentially kicked out of The Vision by Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed when he last appeared.
Both Theory and Ford would be intriguing options for the reveal since they are wrestlers with immense potential who could benefit significantly from joining The Vision.
Either way, WWE has a compelling angle on its hands, so it would behoove the creative team to keep it going for as long as possible before the big reveal.
Knight Reportedly In Line for 2026 Push
Next year is reportedly shaping up to be a big one in the WWE career of LA Knight.
According to BodySlam.net (h/t Mukherjee), 2026 "will be a much better year for Knight," and he is "being positioned as one of the top babyfaces in the company."
Knight won his first United States Championship last year and then became a two-time U.S. champ in March, but he dropped it to Jacob Fatu at WrestleMania 41, and he hasn't held any gold since then.
The Megastar also fell just short of some major accomplishments, including losing a World Heavyweight Championship match at Clash in Paris and losing to Gunther in the finals of the Last Time Is Now tournament for the right to be John Cena's final opponent.
Despite all of that, Knight is still one of the most popular wrestlers in WWE, and that was on full display once again on Raw when he stood up to The Vision.
Logan Paul beat him in the main event of Raw, but it was only due to interference from the masked attacker. Then, Paul and Bronson Reed took him backstage, and Reed hit Knight with a Tsunami splash atop a car.
It felt like an angle meant to write Knight off television for the time being, which could be a good thing, as it would allow him to make a surprise return before or during the Royal Rumble, at which point he could exact revenge on The Vision.
The Vision is WWE's top heel faction right now, and having Knight work with him is a vote of confidence in what Knight brings to the table as a babyface.
There is no guarantee it will lead to a world title win, but Knight does at least seem primed to be involved in major storylines moving forward.
