RBC Canadian Open 2015: Final Leaderboard Scores, Prize Money Payouts and More
David Hearn was bidding to be the first native champion of the Canadian Open since 1954, entering Sunday's final round with sole possession of the lead. It wasn't meant to be.
Overcoming the disappointment of falling one shot short of the playoff at last week's Open Championship, Jason Day fired a four-under 68 to win by one stroke over Bubba Watson and two over Hearn.
Glen Abbey Golf Course in Oakville, Ontario, was the site of Sunday's dramatics, and fans couldn't have asked for a much better show—save for a Hearn victory. Here are the payouts for the top performers in the Canadian Open:

In addition to Hearn having to deal with a nation's collective hope on his shoulders, the 36-year-old journeyman had two world-class adversaries to stave off and wasn't quite able to after starting Sunday two shots ahead.
Golf Channel's Angela Hamann showed the scene at the 18th as Hearn made his way to the finish:
This marks Day's second win of the season. Everything began to skew the Aussie's way when he smashed a 330-yard drive down the par-five 16th and knocked his approach to the back of the green. He two-putted from there to match Hearn—who was in the final pairing behind Day—on 15 under.
A tailwind at the 17th allowed Day to crank out another massive tee shot, leaving himself a pitch and putt to take the outright lead. The Aussie capitalized, confidently draining his birdie attempt with plenty of pace.
After finding the fairway bunker left at the par-five last, Day wedged out, hit a pitching wedge to about 20 feet and struck a pure putt to ultimately gain the hardware:

"The first thing I said was, I've got to get the ball to the hole this time," said Day after the win in reference to his final putt, per PGA Tour on Twitter.
The pressure appeared to be getting to Hearn, who started with two birdies but dropped a shot at the third and couldn't keep his momentum going.
Hearn left birdie bids at Nos. 10 and 14 about one revolution short of the cup as well. Those could have padded his lead and given him an edge on the more elite golfers who were in it down the stretch.
Playing alongside the overnight leader, Watson heated up late in birdieing his final four holes, including a clutch sidewinder at the 71st hole:
Watson took dead aim at the last flag even with a tough hole location over the water, but the ball went just through the green.
Day was battling vertigo amid a gusty performance at the U.S. Open and bounced back in time for the next major to be right in contention. Still awaiting his maiden major title, missing out on the Claret Jug didn't keep Day down for long despite his Monday finish at St. Andrews in Scotland.
Contending at majors has been rather commonplace for Day in recent years. Doing so in regular tournaments has been a challenge he's surmounted this season, as ESPN.com's Jason Sobel observed:
With the way Day stripes the ball and how high his ball flight is, he has to be considered even more of a favorite in the PGA Championship next month. The venue is Whistling Straits in Kohler, Wisconsin, where Day recorded a top 10 the last time the PGA was hosted there in 2010.
Watson nearly burst onto the major scene at the 2010 PGA Championship before losing to Martin Kaymer in a playoff. This close call at the Canadian Open figures to fuel Watson going forward into an exciting pre-playoff stretch on the PGA Tour.
