What Survivor Series Tells Us About WWE's Future Under Triple H
The past few years have seen WWE undergo some of the biggest changes it has seen in it's decades-long existence, and one of those changes is the man in charge.
The company once owned and operated by Vince McMahon is no longer a family-run business. It's now under the TKO corporate umbrella, and while he may be part of the McMahon family by marriage, Triple H is now the guy steering the ship.
For the past couple of years, Paul Levesque has been the head of WWE's creative process. Whether you see that as an improvement or detriment is up to you.
Survivor Series gave us some glimpses into what the future holds under The Game's stewardship.
WWE Legends Will Have More Say in How Their Run Ends
1 of 4Throughout 2025, John Cena has been on his retirement tour. Aside from an ill-advised heel turn that didn't seem to have a plan in place when it started, Cena's 2025 has been interesting.
We've seen the 17-time world champion lock horns with some of his biggest rivals and some newer faces he was fighting for the first time.
What this indicates is that when someone decides to retire in WWE, they are going to have a bigger say over how their career ends than they have in the past.
Cena has always been a team player, but its obvious he was given a lot of freedom to offer input on who he will face and when.
This is great because it means people will get to leave on their own terms. When stars like AJ Styles, Randy Orton or Natalya Neidhart decide it's time to hang up the boots, they will have a lot more say in how it happens.
Match Quality Will Remain Largely the Same

No matter how much WWE tries to say they do not have their own style of wrestling compared to other promotions, that's simply not true.
WWE is not some indie promotion relying on young stars doing dangerous stunts to sell a few hundred tickets. They are a massive corporation relying on its brand recognition and spectacle.
While the wrestlers are still taking very real risks, WWE does not want people to risk a long injury by trying to hit dangerous moves in every single match. It's going to encourage people to work smarter and save those spots for big moments.
While Triple H may allow people like Ilja Dragunov and Sol Ruca to shine due to their skills more than McMahon would have, we're not going to see a big swing in match quality in either direction under his leadership.
PLEs Will Continue Having Smaller Cards
3 of 4With the exception of WWE's marquee shows and two-day events like WrestleMania and SummerSlam, most PLEs have settled into a four or five-match structure.
An event like Survivor Series has two WarGames matches taking up a lot of real estate, so only having two other bouts in addition to those isn't surprising.
For a show without a big gimmick like Backlash, WWE has gotten comfortable with having five bouts. On the plus side, this means every match is going to feel like a big deal because WWE took the time to build it up.
But the negative side of this is fewer wrestlers being featured on a regular basis. Even without storylines behind them, adding one or two more matches to any given card is only going to help get more eyes on up-and-coming talents.
WWE does long pre-shows before every PLE. Maybe it's time to bring back the idea of having matches on those to help bolster the card. It's worked in the past, and no wrestling fan attending a show will complain about getting more wrestling.
WWE Sees Dominik Mysterio as a Star
4 of 4
If you take away the annoying parts of his character and focus on how strongly Dominik Mysterio has been booked in 2025, it becomes obvious that WWE brass see him as a big star and potential main event player in the future.
Not only has Dirty Dom found success with the intercontinental title before dropping it to Cena, but he is also the current AAA mega champion.
He has won against some big stars in 2025, including a few former world champions. And even though he lost the IC belt, being part of Cena's retirement tour as one of his final opponents is great for Dom and his future.
Whether you love him or hate him, the mustachioed, mullet-loving Mysterio is going to be a big part of WWE for a long time.
