Seth Rollins' Return Timeline, Penta Injury Update and Batista WWE Hall of Fame Rumors
Bleacher Report catches you up on the latest news from the WWE Universe.
Rollins Talks Potential Timetable for Return
Seth Rollins has been out of action for over a month due to a shoulder injury, but the former leader of The Vision provided some clarity this week regarding when he potentially may be able to return to in-ring action.
During an appearance on Something's Burning with Bert Kreischer (h/t Steve Carrier of Ringside News), Rollins gave some insight into a possible timeline for his return:
"It'll probably be gradual, I don't even really know," Rollins said. "My guess is about eight to 12 weeks of, 'Okay, now I have to stop eating like an a-----e.' Probably 12 weeks. Plus, we'll be moving right into WrestleMania season. ... So I'm hoping like around February, after all the holiday stuff, I can start to be like, 'Okay, lock in. No more BS.' Probably after the Super Bowl and stuff, I would say. Like give myself a month before I come back-ish. Maybe—I don't even know. You know, they say six months, so this could be April."
Rollins got injured during his win over Cody Rhodes at Crown Jewel on Oct. 11, and according to PWInsider.com (h/t Sean Rueter of Cageside Seats), it is believed he required surgery to repair a torn rotator cuff.
On the following episode of Raw, Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed shockingly attacked Rollins, and essentially kicked him out of The Vision in the process.
Rollins has not been seen on WWE programming since then, and his comments suggest he still has a long road ahead before he can return.
The six-time WWE world champion told Kreischer that he is expecting to get out of his sling in about a month, at which point he plans to go into "full vacation mode" before getting to work in February.
That likely means Rollins won't be back in time for Royal Rumble in late January, but WrestleMania 42 is set for April 18 and 19 in Las Vegas, and the timeline Rollins mentioned indicates that there is at least a possibility that he could show up on the Grandest Stage of Them All.
Penta Provides Update After Raw Injury Scare
After an injury forced a premature end to his match against Solo Sikoa on Monday's episode of Raw, Penta took to social media on Tuesday to provide an update.
In a post on X, Penta expressed gratitude to those who were worried about his well-being and vowed to come back stronger in the near future:
"Thank you to everyone who has checked in on me," Penta wrote. "This injury tested my body and spirit, but it also awakened the strength that has always guided me. I am a Mexican warrior, forged in struggle, honor, and heart. And though the fall was hard, I rose with a fire stronger than ever.
"To my rival, my deepest respect. Thank you for your professionalism and for a clean, dignified battle. I recognize your dedication and honor. I will be back very soon, stronger, more prepared, and determined to finish what I left pending. Thank you for standing with me… because this war still has chapters to be written."
On Monday, Penta and Sikoa met in a quarterfinal matchup in the Last Time Is Now tournament, which is a tourney that will determine the final opponent of John Cena's career.
Penta hit Solo with a hurricanrana outside the ring, but he landed hard on the floor and appeared to be in significant pain. Raw went to a commercial break at that point, and when the show went back live, an announcement was made that Sikoa was the winner due to Penta being unable to continue.
Per Bryan Alvarez of Wrestling Observer Live (h/t Randall Ortman of Cageside Seats), the match was originally scheduled to go 12 minutes and Penta wanted to continue, but the decision was made to cut it short.
Fightful's Sean Ross Sapp (h/t Carrier) later reported that "things seemed okay" with Penta when he returned to the backstage area after the match.
No indication has been given regarding whether Penta will have to miss time or how long he might be out, but he unfortunately had to bow out of the Last Time Is Now tournament, setting up a semifinal clash between Sikoa and Gunther.
Reported Reason for Batista's Delayed WWE HOF Induction
Legendary WWE Superstar Batista was originally slated to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2020, however, the COVID-19 pandemic caused the cancelation of the ceremony.
While the rest of the planned 2020 class ended up getting inducted the following year, Batista didn't, and he still has yet to take his rightful place in the WWE HOF.
According to Fightful Select (h/t Carrier), the reason for the delay is that Batista's schedule simply hasn't allowed him to make time to be at the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony since the initial cancelation.
Nicknamed "The Animal," Batista is one of the most popular and accomplished Superstars in WWE history.
During a WWE main roster career that ran from 2002 to 2010 before brief returns in 2014 and 2019, Batista was a six-time world champion, four-time tag team champion and two-time Royal Rumble winner.
He also main evented WrestleMania on multiple occasions, including WrestleMania 21 in 2005 when he beat Triple H for the World Heavyweight Championship.
Batista has gone on to achieve great success outside of wrestling as an actor, which is likely a big part of the reason why he has been so busy and unable to commit to the Hall of Fame.
However, Batista is more than deserving of the honor, and it is likely a matter of when rather than if it happens.
