The Brock Lesnar Feud to Win Back WWE Fans

Chris RolingNov 22, 2025

WWE is doing its best to end 2025 with an exclamation point at Survivor Series: WarGames.

Sure, there's the John Cena retirement tour wrapping up, too. But to get cliché for a second, WWE has pulled out all of the proverbial stops for the WarGames match around the holidays.

The men's match, in particular, suddenly features major names like Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar.

Lesnar, especially, could win back WWE fans in a big way…if WWE puts him in the proper feud.

While Lesnar gets big pops from live crowds in the heat of the moment, he's been grossly unpopular for a little while now, at least compared to the buzz he used to bring. Much goes into that, of course, but tops among those things lately is his debacle of a match where he defeated John Cena at Wrestlepalooza while WWE lazily wooed ESPN viewers for some reason.

But there's a way to correct course and even improve WWE for the long run while using Lesnar at Survivor Series.

It's Bron Breakker time.

Lesnar vs. Breakker is one of those fantasy feuds by fans that may or may not actually see the light of day. But the allure is obvious. It's a beast vs. beast or monster vs. monster match that would be a ton of fun and inevitably put over the next big thing in the sport.

Technically speaking, Lesnar and Breakker are teammates during the WarGames match. But fans know how this goes for a hastily assembled cast of villains. There's going to be distrust, if not outright betrayals.

That's especially the case with a guy by the name of Paul Heyman lurking at ringside and boasting some serious history with four of the major names involved in the match. He's got his fingerprints all over CM Punk and Roman Reigns, the other two, which will give fans some inevitable fun spots during the match.

But it's the past-present dynamic going on with Lesnar and Breakker that is really compelling. Nobody needs Hollywood writers for this one: The Beast attempts to little brother the younger Breakker, to which the Steiner family product takes major offense. Chaos ensues.

Leaning into this makes what should be a pretty cookie-cutter WarGames match something much more important. WWE has long struggled with themed PLEs just throwing stuff against the wall. WWE has toned down the number of those in recent years as a result and attempted to inject the WarGames formula into Survivor Series pretty successfully.

Even so, this PLE goes down on a holiday weekend and the WarGames match itself is very much a sideshow to Cena's Intercontinental title bout with Dominik Mysterio.

The even fleeting idea that the match could be a launching pad for a long-term Lesnar-Breakker, feud, though, certainly adds weight to the match.

Consider the alternatives, too. After Lesnar's disaster with Cena, the last thing WWE needs to do is get him into a WrestleMania program with a retread. Fans don't need to see him fight with Reigns, Cody Rhodes or even CM Punk again. Those guys have other things to do.

And frankly, the idea he puts over Gunther in a match already seems exhaustingly played out because it has seemed so obvious, never mind how much Gunther has cooled.

By comparison, Breakker and Lesnar sort of has it all. The feud would be justified. Everyone already knows the younger guy needs to go through Lesnar to be the top dog. It's a matchup of monsters that, in ring, will feature quick, unforgettable action that could end at any moment. And Heyman happens to be the greatest of all time on the mic, so he could drive the narrative in compelling ways for both guys.

Even better, perhaps it stretches to WrestleMania itself next year with some serious violence on the way. Every weekly broadcast would be noteworthy if they go at it backstage or something at random. WWE's shown some evolution with backstage segments and even off-television moments only filmed by "fans" over the last few years, so a feud like this is tailor-made for this era.

It could even be a series of matches, too. Want one at Elimination Chamber? How about a blood feud that keeps them out of the Royal Rumble and lets them have a match there? A best-of-three that ends with a passing of the torch at WrestleMania? Don't say it wouldn't be fun.

This feels like a layup for WWE. Doesn't mean it will happen, but Heyman being right there to help guide a story between Lesnar and Breakker that stretches to the biggest shows of 2026 is an option.

Given this narrative thread ready for pulling, the men's WarGames match doesn't need to be a skippable thing with a few predictable spots. Getting the ball rolling on Lesnar vs. Breakker before December, rather than shoving it to a Royal Rumble spot, would light up the winter months for WWE and make weekly shows critical viewing.

Which is the end goal, right? That and finally strapping the rocketship to Breakker that everyone knows is coming, anyway. A mini-Lesnar redemption as his career presumably winds down, too? Just a bonus.
