Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
John Cena is set to compete in his retirement match in December, but that reportedly may not be the last the WWE Universe sees of the 17-time world champion.
According to Bryan Alvarez of Wrestling Observer Live (h/t Steve Carrier of Ringside News), it is considered "very likely" that Cena will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame during WrestleMania 42 weekend in Las Vegas in April 2026.
Monday marked Cena's final appearance on Raw as an active performer, and he picked up a victory, as he teamed with Sheamus and Rey Mysterio to beat Judgment Day members Dominik Mysterio, Finn Balor and JD McDonagh.
Cena also agreed to put the Intercontinental Championship on the line against Dominik later this month at Survivor Series in Dom's hometown of San Diego.
Last week, Cena beat Dirty Dom to win the IC title and officially become a Grand Slam champion.
After Survivor Series, Cena will turn his focus to the Dec. 13 Saturday Night's Main Event in Washington, D.C., which will be the site of his final match.
Cena will face the winner of the Last Time Is Now tournament, which is a tourney made up of Superstars from the WWE main roster and NXT, as well as some from outside the company.
Gunther, who returned on Raw after a three-month hiatus to beat Je'Von Evans in the first round, is considered the odds-on favorite to win the tournament and be Cena's final opponent.
It has been obvious for many years that Cena was a WWE Hall of Famer in waiting, so it makes sense to enshrine him as soon as possible.
If and when that happens, it will mark a fitting end to one of the most successful and legendary careers in pro wrestling history.
Morgan Reportedly Not at Raw Amid Injury Recovery
As she continues to work her way back from shoulder surgery, Liv Morgan was reportedly not present for Monday's huge episode of Raw at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
Prior to Raw, BodySlam.net (h/t Carrier) reported that Morgan was one of several big names expected to be in attendance.
However, PWInsider.com (h/t Carrier) followed up by reporting that Liv was not backstage for the event.
Morgan has not been seen on WWE programming since the June 16 episode of Raw when she injured her shoulder early in a match against Kairi Sane.
The match had to be cut short, and Morgan subsequently underwent surgery to repair the issue.
Prior to her hiatus, Morgan was one of the top stars in the women's division, as she was one half of the WWE women's tag team champions, as well as a former two-time women's world champion.
While she has been gone, there has been a great deal of tension within The Judgment Day, especially when it comes to Dominik, Balor and McDonagh.
Roxanne Perez also joined the group and became Raquel Rodriguez's new partner during Liv's absence, and it is safe to assume that Morgan will have something to say about that when she does ultimately return.
Evans Reportedly Highly Regarded in WWE
NXT's Je'Von Evans is reportedly viewed as a potential top star in the making within WWE.
According to BodySlam.net (h/t Felix Upton of Ringside News), there are "multiple executives" in WWE who believe Evans is "not only the present, but the future of WWE."
Evans is just 21 years old, and he has only been under a WWE contract since late 2023.
However, he has quickly risen through the ranks in NXT, becoming one of the brand's biggest and most popular stars. He has yet to win a title, but that could change Tuesday on NXT Gold Rush when he and TNA's Leon Slater challenge DarkState for the NXT Tag Team Championships.
The WWE brass has made it clear how it feels about Evans based on the positions he has been put in over the past few months.
In addition to being part of the Last Time Is Now tournament, Evans recently faced Sami Zayn in a United States Championship open challenge on SmackDown as well.
The fact that WWE wants to expose Evans to the main roster audience so early in his time with the company is a telltale sign that big plans are in place for him moving forward.
Evans still has more he can accomplish in NXT, but when the time comes for him to get called up, it won't be a surprise if he gets pushed like a top star immediately.
