Jey Uso "Not Originally Planned" for SNME

The WWE creative team had to call an audible after Seth Rollins suffered a shoulder injury that required him to vacate the World Heavyweight Championship. CM Punk now carries the gold after beating Jey Uso in the main event of Saturday Night's Main Event.

According to Fightful Select, Uso "was not originally planned for this show whatsoever."

That's not a major shock because SNME cards are much more compact compared to premium live events. There isn't much room for backstage filler or rambling interviews in the ring.

Just as Bill Goldberg how tight the broadcast window is.

With Rollins out of the picture, though, WWE needed somebody to go up against Punk in Salt Lake City. Uso earned the spot by winning a Battle Royal on Raw.

It can be a double-edged sword for wrestlers in Uso's position. On one hand, he got a marquee match that otherwise wasn't coming his way. On the other, he was basically the sacrificial lamb whose purpose was facilitating the start of Punk's title run.

Andrade Unlikely to Return to WWE

PWInsider.com's Mike Johnson reported in October that some were under the belief that WWE could bring Andrade El Idolo back into the fold once his long non-compete clause expires.

Dave Meltzer followed up in his Nov. 3 issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (via Matt Black of Wrestle Zone) to report that that doesn't appear to be the case.

Andrade is one of the more fascinating free agents in a while because of the murky circumstances over whether he can actually wrestle right now.

The 35-year-old showed back up in AEW on the Oct. 1 edition of Dynamite, which seemed to be a straightforward answer to where he'd be employed after his WWE release.

Alas, it came out that his non-compete could stretch for much further than this fall.

If nothing else, it's difficult to see how he'd land on his feet in WWE when he wasn't being used in a prominent role prior to his exit. Regardless of the circumstances behind it, a separation seemed to suit everyone involved.

Ospreay Targets January Return after Neck Surgery

Saminder Singh of the Body Alignment Clinic provided an encouraging update on AEW star Will Ospreay.

Singh shared a series of photos of Ospreay on Instagram and said the former AEW international champion is "doing great."

"Still some way to go with but we're on the right road," he said before appearing to set January as a target for the end of the recovery period.

Ospreay confirmed to CBS Sports' Shakiel Mahjouri prior to Forbidden Door he intended to go under the knife to address a pair of herniated discs in his back. He didn't set a timeline for his eventual return, but a few months at a minimum were a safe guess.

Anything back- or neck-related can be tricky and erring on the side of caution is advisable. If Ospreay is wrestling again this winter, that's probably the best-case scenario.
