Jeff Hardy is banged up coming out of The Hardy Boyz' NXT Tag Team Championship loss to DarkState at Halloween Havoc last weekend.
Speaking Friday on his The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy podcast (h/t Felix Upton of Ringside News), Matt Hardy gave an update on his brother coming out of Halloween Havoc, saying, "The Doomsday—I think he kind of jerked his neck a little bit, and it was a little tight at the end of it. I think he's—I think he's gonna be all good."
At Halloween Havoc, The Hardy Boyz put the NXT Tag Team Championships on the line in a DarkState match in a Broken Rules match, which meant it was anything goes.
Jeff took a huge risk at one point, climbing the highest ladder and attempting to hit a member of DarkState with a Swanton through a table.
The opponent moved, which resulted in Jeff going through the table on his own and hitting the floor hard.
While that looked like the most painful spot of the match, Matt suggested it was the Doomsday Device executed by DarkState on Jeff that gave him the most trouble coming out of it.
Although The Hardy Boyz dropped the NXT tag titles to DarkState, they are still the TNA world tag team champions, and the loss perhaps paves the way for them to primarily focus on their time in TNA.
Matt discussed the status of The Hardy Boyz on The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy (h/t Steve Carrier of Ringside News), expressing his belief that right now he and Jeff are best off being based in TNA, while still being able to do stints in WWE due to the partnership between the two companies.
"I think in a perfect world to optimize stuff, I would like to see myself and Jeff spend a little more time with TNA and I would like to see this partnership grow a little bit because I think WWE looks at us as legacy acts," Matt said. "We were WWE born and bred, and maybe we do stick our heads back in NXT, do another little run there. Maybe we stick our heads into a Raw, do a small run there. We stick our heads into SmackDown, do a small run there."
Matt added that there are "a lot of interesting" things they can do in WWE, especially if they limit themselves to "short, explosive" runs with the promotion.
The Hardy Boyz are widely considered to be among the greatest tag teams of all time, and that is mostly due to what they have accomplished in WWE.
Matt and Jeff are still beloved by WWE fans to this day, and because of that, it is likely that WWE will always welcome them in with open arms for as long as they want to wrestle.
Reported Plan for Cena vs. Dominik Mysterio
Dominik Mysterio is reportedly considered likely to retain the Intercontinental Championship due to a major match he is planned for at Survivor Series.
According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (h/t WrestleTalk), WWE's plan as of "a few weeks ago" was for John Cena to beat Dirty Dom for the Intercontinental Championship at Survivor Series before defending it against Gunther in his retirement match in December.
Before that, Mysterio is set to defend the IC title against Rusev and Penta in a Triple Threat match this weekend at Saturday Night's Main Event.
Cena has not appeared on WWE programming since his win over AJ Styles at Crown Jewel, but he is scheduled for two Raw appearances in November, as well as a match at Survivor Series.
Fittingly, Survivor Series will take place in Dominik's hometown of San Diego on Nov. 29, so it would likely behoove WWE to feature him heavily on that show.
The Intercontinental Championship is the one significant title Cena has never won, so it would be easy to build a story between him and Dom based on that.
Then, if WWE is indeed planning to make Gunther the final opponent for Cena, having the Intercontinental Championship involved would tie everything together nicely since Gunther is the longest-reigning IC champ in WWE history.
At this point, any match Cena has is a huge one, and putting Mysterio against him, even in a losing effort, would go a long way toward elevating Dom's already-rising star.
Bianca Belair's Reported Injury Status
Bianca Belair has been out of action since WrestleMania 41 in April, and it reportedly still isn't known when she will be able to return.
According to Meltzer (h/t WrestlePurists), there remains no specific return date for The EST, as she continues to recover from a broken finger.
Back in July, during an appearance on Insight with Chris Van Vliet (h/t SI.com's Jon Alba), Belair confirmed that she suffered a broken finger during her Triple Threat match against Iyo Sky and Rhea Ripley at WrestleMania.
Belair noted that it happened on a triple German suplex spot, and that it felt like she broke all of her fingers when her hand got stuck underneath Ripley.
While a broken finger creates plenty of potential issues for a pro wrestler, it typically isn't a long-term injury. The fact that Belair has been out for six months suggests the injury may be more complex than usual.
Belair has made a handful of appearances on WWE programming while healing up, including serving as the special guest referee for Naomi vs. Jade Cargill at Evolution in July.
She has not had a match since WrestleMania, though, leaving WWE without arguably its top star in the women's division for half a year.
With huge events like Survivor Series in November and Royal Rumble in January on tap, there is little doubt that WWE is hopeful to have Belair back in short order.
