Deion Sanders Says Colorado Has 'Flushed the Toilet and Moved On' from Loss to Utah
Deion Sanders doesn't want to dwell on Colorado's 53-7 blowout loss to Utah on Saturday.
"These guys understand the assignment, they understand the mission," the Buffaloes head coach told reporters Tuesday (nine-minute mark). "It was one of those days that it just didn't work. We got our butts kicked, don't sugarcoat it, don't placate it. It is what it is. Now guess what? Let's flush the darn toilet and let's move on. And that's what we've done. We've flushed the toilet and moved on."

A butt kicking is a kind way to describe what happened Saturday.
Colorado trailed 43-0 at halftime and tallied a shocking minus-18 yards of total offense prior to intermission. Had the Utes kept their foot on the collective gas pedal, they may have been able to win with a score close to 80-0.
Instead, they put things on cruise control in a second half that was essentially meaningless.
Even with that, Colorado didn't manage to get on the scoreboard until the fourth quarter when backup quarterback Ryan Staub ran one in for a touchdown. It wasn't just the offense that was a problem for the Buffaloes, as Utah ran for 422 yards and four scores at 8.3 yards per carry against their defense.
Sanders didn't hold back after the game when he told reporters, "This is bad. It's probably the worst beating I've ever had."
A step back was a fair expectation for Sanders in his third year as head coach considering Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter and All-Big 12 quarterback Shedeur Sanders exited for the NFL.
But this was more than a step back.
Colorado looked like an overmatched FCS team trying to keep up with an SEC team in late November instead of a team that surely hoped to be in Big 12 title contention entering the campaign.
It is now 3-5 overall and can only lose one more game this season to become bowl eligible.
There figures to be a sense of urgency as a result, so it is ideal that Colorado is putting Saturday's outcome in the rearview mirror.
