Barbasol Championship 2015: Final Leaderboard Scores, Prize Money Payouts, More
Scott Piercy pulled away from the field in the final round of Sunday's Barbasol Championship, firing a six-under 65 to win by three strokes over Will Wilcox at Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail in Alabama.
Piercy and Ricky Barnes broke away from a massive cluster atop the leaderboard in the final pairing Saturday, co-leading at the 54-hole mark on 13 under par. The two teamed again for Sunday's last 18 holes, where Piercy was clearly superior under pressure.

Inclement weather delayed play in the early afternoon. No one could tell with the way Piercy came out of the gates.
"I've been striking it well," Piercy said before Sunday's action, per PGATour.com's Tim Gale. "I'm hitting it where I'm looking, right distance control. I just need to get that putter dialed in a little bit more. Today I shot [six] under today and I missed it from two feet on 15 and I had a whole bunch more, you know, that were realistically birdie putts."
The flat iron was quite kind to start Piercy's final round.
Birdies on the first two holes set the tone for Piercy's triumph, the second of which was an absolute bomb at the par-four second, courtesy of the PGA Tour's official Twitter account:
Both players in Sunday's final pair birdied Nos. 5 and 6—and Barnes added another birdie at No. 7 before giving a shot back on the next hole. Piercy dropped a shot at the par-three eighth as well but got it back with a birdie at the ninth.
Armed with a three-shot advantage over Barnes entering the final nine, Piercy capitalized on both par fives with birdies at the 13th and 16th, with another birdie sprinkled in at the par-four 15th.
Bogeying the 71st hole didn't create much suspense striding down the final fairway for Piercy, but the event's runner-up Wilcox went out with quite a bang to finish a round of 67:
Barnes had three bogeys on the back nine—including consecutive ones on the final two holes—against three birdies, so his mistakes prevented him from making up any ground.
Amateurs are making waves across the pond at The Open Championship, with Paul Dunne leading the chase for the Claret Jug entering Monday's last round. The Barbasol Championship fostered a stellar amateur performance from Robby Shelton.
The hometown University of Alabama star made the most of his opportunity this week, tying Barnes and Whee Kim for third. Golfweek's Andy Zunz noted how Shelton could well have been in the winner's circle with a few more holed putts:
But Piercy was hard to beat as it was, with vintage stuff to collect his third PGA Tour victory.
This tournament was opposite a major championship, so of course it was upstaged to a degree. That doesn't make it less significant for Piercy, though, as he has rediscovered some form and shot himself up to 20th in the FedEx Cup standings.
Former U.S. Amateur champion Barnes needed a strong outing as well since he's on the outside looking in on the playoff picture. The Barbasol Championship had to be a source of confidence for players who needed a strong result, but the lack of FedEx Cup points available made Piercy, Wilcox and Shelton the ones who gained the most from their performances.
