AEW Collision Homecoming 2025 Results, Winners, Live Grades, Reaction and Highlights
Welcome to Bleacher Report's live coverage of AEW Collision on October 11.
Here's a look at what AEW advertised for Saturday's show:
- Kota Ibushi vs. Josh Alexander
- TayJay in action
- Eddie Kingston vs. The Beast Mortos
- Big Bill and Bryan Keith vs. Anthony Bowens and Max Caster
- Megan Bayne and FTR vs. Willow Nightingale and JetSpeed
- Triangle of Madness vs. Toni Storm, Harley Cameron and Kris Statlander
Let's take a look at what went down on this week's Homecoming episode of Collision.
Kota Ibushi vs. Josh Alexander
1 of 8
Last time in action: Ibushi was on the winning team of the Cage match (Forbidden Door), Alexander and the Don Callis Family defeated MxM TV (Collision, October 2)
After a quick series of backstage promos to open the show, we went live in the arena for Ibushi's entrance to take on Alexander.
Because this show was pre-taped, news of Ibushi's injury was already out there, so there was a slight sense of dread as the match started.
Ibushi has had a rough few years with injuries and recovery, and seeing him go down in his first match in months makes it even sadder. That said, both guys put in a good effort before the injury took place.
Alexander has been relegated mostly to multi-man matches since joining AEW, so it was nice to see him get a chance to work a singles bout against a big star.
We won't be providing a grade for this match due to Ibushi's injury, but everything they did leading up to that moment looked good.
As Alexander was preparing for something on the top rope, Ibushi fell to the floor and landed awkwardly. He caught himself on the barricade, but the damage was done. Ibushi was counted out because he could not continue, and he was stretchered out of the arena.
Mark Davis returned to attack Ibushi after the match, but Kenny Omega made the save and too him and Alexander out. We wish Ibushi the best in his recovery.
Result: Alexander won by countout
Grade: N/A
Notable Moments and Observations
- Willow was sitting in the mouth of a huge plastic jaguar during her backstage promo.
- It's weird when one person or team is heavily associated with a color scheme and then someone else wears it. Alexander looked like he was auditioning for the Hurt Syndicate with the black and gold gear.
- Ibushi's German suplex always has a nice snap to it.
- The shot Davis took from the trash can looked stiff.
Max Caster and Anthony Bowens vs. Big Bill and Bryan Keith
2 of 8
Last time in action: Bowens and Caster defeated The Swirl (Collision, Sept. 27), Keith and Bill lost to Hook and Eddie Kingston (Collision, Sept. 27)
The next matchup saw Caster and Bowens reluctantly team up once again to take on Big Bill and Keith. Bowens and Caster kept tagging themselves in because they wanted to start the match, but it ended up being Caster.
The Bad Apple and The Best Wrestler Alive traded some quick takedowns before Bowens tagged himself in again. However, once Bill tagged in, neither man wanted to face him and kept tagging out.
The former Acclaimed members managed to work together for a short time to take control, but their issues got the better of them.
This was a match designed to tell a story, not steal the show. It had some good action in places, but most of this match was about Bowens and Caster trying to outdo each other.
Even though they could barely stand each other, Bowens and Caster got the win when Bowens nailed Keith with the Mollywhop.
Result: Caster and Bowens defeated Bill and Keith
Grade: B-
Notable Moments and Observations
- There has been no explanation of why Billy Gunn has not been around for this story.
- It was a little surprising to see Bowens getting the kind of heat he did.
- Bowens looking scared of Bill and tagging out was kind of funny.
- Caster's springboard did not go as planned.
TayJay vs. Dream Girl Ellie and Carolina Cruz
3 of 8
Last time in action: TayJay lost the $500K match (Collision, Sept. 11)
Dream Girl Ellie and Carolina Cruz were the local talents tasked with taking on Anna Jay and Tay Melo this week.
This match was booked solely to give TayJay a decisive win. This wasn't competitive at all and TayJay scored an easy win in a couple of minutes.
Result: TayJay won
Grade: Incomplete
Notable Moments and Observations
- The announcers plugged the new DC/AEW crossover during the match.
- TayJay had some cool new entrance music.
Triangle of Madness vs. Toni Storm, Kris Statlander and Harley Cameron
4 of 8
Last time in action: Triangle of Madness defeated Statlander and Cameron in the $500K match (Collision, Sept. 11), Storm defeated Melo (Dynamite, October 1)
The next bout was a trios match with Thekla, Julia Hart and Skye Blue taking on Storm, Statlander and Cameron.
Storm took control against Thekla to get things started, but The Toxic Spider quickly recovered and hit a series of kicks. Storm took her down with a Thesz press before bringing in Cameron.
We got to see all six women taking turns in the ring, but they didn't rush from tag to tag, which helped the pace not feel so chaotic.
They fought through the break into the next segment, so they had plenty of time to make this an entertaining performance. It had some slow moments and a couple of awkward spots, but they all put in a lot of effort.
Storm and Stat did a good job playing up their storyline, but in the end, it was Thekla who got the win with a Spear to Cameron.
Result: Triangle of Madness defeated Statlander, Storm and Cameron
Grade: C+
Notable Moments and Observations
- Statlander's entrance music is perfect for her. Mikey Rukus has done such a great job making themes in AEW.
- The backstage promos with these six women were great. Storm and Stat have great chemistry as rivals who respect each other.
- Julia and Skye should be in the discussion to be the first women's tag champs in AEW. They have grown into a great duo with a unique partnership.
MxM TV vs. LFI
5 of 8
Last time in action: MxM lost to the Don Callis Family (Collision, October 2), LFI won a squash match (Collision, October 2)
Mansoor, Mason Madden and Johnny TV were in trios action this week against Rush, Sammy Guevara and Dralistico.
Johnny and Dralistico started for their teams. They had a quick exchange before Mansoor and Guevara took over. The first few minutes was just everyone taking turns tagging in and out.
Once Rush tagged in, the pace picked up. He no-sold some offense from MxM as he went on a rampage. This quickly turned into a one-sided affair. Guevara got the pin for his team with a swanton on Mansoor.
This was decent, but there wasn't much to it. LFI got a decisive win, which wasn't surprising, but a more competitive fight would have been better.
Result: LFI defeated MxM TV
Grade: C
Notable Moments and Observations
- Omega gave a promo backstage. Jack Perry offered to have Omega's back since his friend was hurt.
- Cameron and Stat had an interview after their match. Cameron is easily one of the funniest people in AEW right now.
- The stuff MxM was doing with the ring announcer before the match was supposed to be funny, but it felt too forced.
- Johnny took a nasty fall when Dralistico hit a hurricanrana on the apron.
Eddie Kingston vs. The Beast Mortos
6 of 8
Last time in action: Kingston defeated Dralistico (Collision, October 2), Mortos lost to Mascara Dorada (Dynamite, Sept. 17)
Since The Beast Mortos was already at ringside, Kingston came out for their match immediately after the previous bout was over.
Kingston almost hit his finisher within the first minute, but once Mortos found his footing, he took control as the show went to a break.
We returned to see The Mad King beginning to make a comeback with a suicide dive. Mortos missed a corkscrew senton and gave Kingston the opening he needed.
He nailed Mortos with the spinning backfist for the pin and the win. Hook came out to congratulate his partner after the win. This was a solid little match but nothing to write home about.
Result: Kingston defeated Mortos
Grade: B-
Notable Moments and Observations
- Kingston keeping his entrance simple is part of what makes him great. He doesn't need to post on the stage. Having him march to the ring ready for a fight is best.
- Kingston and Mortos biting each other was not on our bingo card.
FTR and Megan Bayne vs. JetSpeed and Willow Nightingale
7 of 8
Last time in action: FTR lost to Cope and Cage (All Out), Bayne lost the Tailgate Brawl to Willow's team (Collision, Sept. 20), JetSpeed lost the Ladder match (All Out)
This week's main event saw Bayne team up with Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler to take on Nightingale, Mike Bailey and Kevin Knight.
The women started the match and circled each other before locking up. The powerhouses pushed each other around in a lockup but neither woman would relent.
All six competitors did a great job making this the best match of the night. The growing feud between FTR and JetSpeed was the main focus, but Willow and Bayne made sure nobody was overlooking them.
Bayne ended up hitting a few moves on Bailey, and Nightingale hit several on Harwood and Wheeler. The crowd was loving it and chanted "This is awesome" at the intergender action.
It looked like the babyfaces might win with three single-leg crabs at the same time, but the heels escaped and Bayne was able to secure the win by pinning Willow.
Result: FTR and Bayne defeated JetSpeed and Nightingale
Grade: B+
Notable Moments and Observations
- Harwood and Wheeler have become pros at arguing with fans at ringside. It's always kind of funny to see them pretend someone got under their skin.
- Wheeler mimicking Willow's dance was funny.
- Penelope Ford deserves better than being Bayne's lackey.
The Final Word
8 of 8Saturday's Collision was a perfectly down the middle, serviceable episode of pro wrestling. It had a little bit of everything, so there was something for everyone.
Most of the matches were decent and served their storylines, so it almost seemed easy for the main event to steal the show.
FTR and JetSpeed have great chemistry together, and the combination of Bayne and Nightingale gave us AEW's two most powerful women going at it.
Sadly, the show was marred by the injury to Ibushi in the opening bout. The show was pre-taped, so we all knew it was coming, but that didn't make it any easier to watch.
With WrestleDream quickly approaching, AEW has been doing a lot to build up the card in a short time. The PPV is just one week away, so all we have is next week's Dynamite and Collision to finish the build. Let's hope AEW sticks the landing.
Grade: B-
